Actually, I’m sure High School Musical and Barbie Horse Adventures are perfectly fine games for their target demographic. They just don’t add spice to a date the way Cooking Mama does. Trust me.
And if you’re just joining us, check out the beginning of this storyline – where jefbot invites the girl of his dreams to a beach party – by clicking here:
Sweet! I want me some octopus dumplings… Looks like this will build up to a nice sunset, eh? By the way, great guest comic @ Calamities of Nature dude.
thanks, speearr, that calamities strip was a lot of fun to do. and yes – sunset approaches in a few strips! 😀
almost sunset there….
cel’s totally pulling jefbot’s leg about zac, JF3. otherwise i think ‘bot would’ve had the same “noooooOooooo” reaction as you did. 🙂 and we have a little bit more time before the sun sets, but should make for a pretty romantic scene…
Cel is bare foot too!
This made me LOL. First she verbaly kills those games and then admit they are kinda fun… I dig how you implement these kind of things we all do once in a while into your comics. Its what makes it so funny and beliveable even with all crazyness that Jeffbot is going through. Mostly by his own doing, whats one of thing that are from real life too. Once again, Kudos!
yep, cel’s shoes are off and her feet are out! that’s gotta be seen as some sort of progress for jefbot, right, Maryz? and yeah, balancing the ‘craziness’ with ‘believability’ is something i’m always thinking about when writing these strips, so i’m happy to hear you think i’m getting it right. 😀
Their feet! They are touching! so sweet…
yep, whether by accident or on purpose, their feet have made contact, fanz!
Their feets are both naked this time! Awesome! That second panel could have worked out to be the perfect moment for JB to kiss Cel. (The lighting was just right, and you drew the frame/close up just right as well.) I don’t understand the whole HSM craze, or why Mr. Efron is all the rage either.. but that’s just me, and I’m getting old so I guess that plays into it all?
I’m trying to figure out what the symbol is on Cels hoodie. (which would be another cool idea to make Cel gamer chick hoodies with that symbol on it, as well as the JB logo and put in the botSHOP!) To me it looks like the XBox 360 logo, but I could be wrong. And I’m also trying to figure out what that sticker is on Cels DS. (It looks like something from Space Invaders.) Yet another one to make me smile and laugh out loud sir! *round of applause*
true, the mood was perfect for jefbot to make his move in that second panel, Spanky. unfortunately, he’s just not that smooth. heheh. but maybe her brushing his nekkid foot with hers will embolden him. 🙂 and i don’t understand the whole HSM craze, either. i tried watching the 1st one and just couldn’t get into it.
and jacob, below, is right about cel’s glyph – a thermometer inside a “c” to resemble a “power” symbol as on a computer. funny you should mention the sticker since you’ll be seeing it in future strips, but i can’t reveal more than that just yet. 🙂
Love their feet!!! Great work!
i love that you guys love the feet touching, Mary. i think it’s just so much more romantic and real than if they had just hopped into the back seat of a car, y’know?
you’re a big girl
I figured the symbol on her hoodie was a themomitor inside a C, so in other words its a play on her gamertag.. am i right?
100% right, Jacob. wow, i’m surprised you could even make that out, it’s so small! but yeah, a thermometer inside a “c” in the shape of a “power” button symbol. good eye! 😀
thermometer* i should read what i type before i hit the submit button >.>
heheh. i do that all the time, Jacob. especially when texting with my phone.
Ah! She can’t like Zack…whatever his name is! It would go against everything she stands for! She’s messing with him right?
you’ll be happy to know cel’s totally messing with him, JM. but it seems there are a lot of other people that think she’s being serious, too. i may have to revise the strip a bit to make her sarcasm more clear.
Hey man, Zac Efron is hot, and hot is hot. Guy’s are open minded when it comes to hot chicks, why can’t girls be the same way?
totally agree with you, Aquila, and it would be kinda funny if cel was being serious about Zac, but she was really just kidding around. yeah, i definitely gotta change the wording a bit.
I love it, bot. I feel like I’m watching a documentary on nerd courting. 😉 I still absolutely love the colors and the facial expressions. I think Jefbot.com needs to move to the beach permanently. Great work as usual, man!!!
ha! if the Discovery Channel had a show about nerd courting, i’d probably watch it.
That’s funny! I love how feisty Cel is… And I love that she hates Zac Effron too!
I hear he’s a nice guy… But I know Jefbot is way cooler!!!
she’s totally feisty, FS! and yeah, while she might not hate zac per se, she knows enough to joke about him with jefbot a bit. 🙂
Awesome strip ‘bot. I’ve never played cooking mama or many of the other casual games cept diner dash and bejeweled… and tetris but tetris is old school ^^
i looOOove me some tetris and bejeweled, DJ. i’ve never played diner dash but i can vouch for cooking mama on the DS: it’s a lot of fun. not bad on Wii, either, but the controls are a bit janky.
Such a terrible webcomic! Pandering to demgraphics, Mary Sue protagonists, character development with the finesse of a preschooler’s fingerpaintings, and horrible rip-off Penny Arcade art (which admittedly looks terrible, so how you could make it worse is beyond me, but you suceeded).
Why do you do this? If you hate people you should just leave them alone, not torture them with terrible creations like this.
sorry you didn’t like the strip.
ROFL @ Cel
and omg, THEIR FEETS TOUCHING.
this is getting better and better :D. gogogo
ha! thanks, b0ygrinder. when i drew the feet touching, i wasn’t even sure how many people were going to notice, but it seems everybody caught it. awesome.
I’ve never watched any of the HS music craps. I really hate musicals (or at least REAL people singing gets on my nerves). I do enjoy some Disney animated movies and for some reason or another I can stand the singing there. No idea why.
Cel is a nice person. If it was me I would have killed jef. just like that. I guess I’m a very violence prone person.
*evil laugh of doom*
there are a bunch of musicals i totally dig, Sonitan – jesus christ superstar, hedwig and the angry inch and les miserables, among them. disney stuff, too. check out dr. horrible if you haven’t already. that’s awesome, especially for the geek crowd.
you would kill poor jefbot, even if he’s just pulling cel’s leg about playing HSM? you are evil! 😉
@mewchu: Penny Arcade? Really? Just so you know, going against popular opinion doesn’t make you cool. If you dislike the webcomic, don’t read it. It’s that simple.
very well put. thanks, Anonymous.
How is High School Musical, ‘bot? I remember you chomping at the bit for that to come out 🙂
only because Zac Efron is so dreamy.
@ Jeff: Great comic! As one who has to cook for himself, I might try out Cooking Mama. (What a weird title! Makes it sound like it’s a horror-based game about matricidal cannibalism…)
@ mewchu: What Anonymous said.
see, now, a game about “matricidal cannibalism” sounds like an even better game than cooking mama, reynard61, and i’d totally play it! and while you can’t really learn how to cook from CM, it’ll definitely turn you on to some food dishes (especially Japanese ones) you might not know about.
cooking mama is a great relationship builder
true dat, Vee. 🙂
I love the one on the beach with your computer, tv, fan, game, etc.
Reminds me of home when we go out by the pool – radio, fan, awning, etc.
thanks, AK! glad you could relate. protip: bring a DS or PSP next time you’re poolside, just to see if you dig it. 🙂
Love the strip! Anonymous gave a “cool” reply to m_____’s vitriolic comments.
thanks for lovin’ the strip and the support, jAnonymous. 🙂
Aww, feeties, they’re playin’ feeties! What’s next, passing notes in class?
“Do you like me?
[ ] Yes [ ] No [ ] Maybe?”
Ah ha ha, youth. XDD
ha! either that or JyantR0B0T’s awesome idea of sending chocolates and flowers via pictochat, foxmouse. 🙂
…..Though its odd, I heard Zac Effron is going to play Light Yagami in an american Death Note movie…I wasn’t thrilled, though I don’t intially hate Zac…not because I’m also a fellow Zach…..Its because most girls go after him…..WHY CEL, YOUR DREAM GUY IS IN FRONT OF YOU*facepalm*
whoopsie, sorry, that was me the anonymous…sorry.
unfortunately, Death Note (and i think Death Note 2) only played in town twice, and i missed both shows, ZachLight. been thinking about tracking them down on DVD since i keep hearing good things about ’em. and while i have nothing against Zac (i thought he did a great job in Hairpray), cel really is just being her sarcastic self when she said he’s dreamy. 🙂
I’m amused by the fact that the tags for this strip include “octopus dumplings” and “zac efron”. Are these topics that you anticipate coming up in a lot of future strips? 😉
RM, those tags are for when, a few months down the road, i can’t remember the exact strip cel mentioned zac efron, or jefbot mentioned cooking mama in. then i can just search for “zac” or “dumplings” and it’ll come up. i should really look into something more robust, methinks. 🙂
pssst… Anonymous is Jef….but you didn’t hear that from me
mewchu fuh q
HA! i seriously almost spit my dr. pepper out when i read this, sis.
Mewchu…why waste your time writing how much you hate this site when you should be reading your catgirl comics and getting all “squee” about them…You are a waste of skin…and my time…
*ahem* That being said..I love how their feet are almost touching in the last panel…wow knees and feet…this is too hot for my eyes LOL!! Oh and I love the comic…please keep up the good work babe! and Xinda…you rock hon!
it just doesn’t get any hotter than knees and feet, EvilStepQueen! well, except for hands. and lips. and bodies. okay, well, you know what i’m saying. knees and feet can be very sexy, too. heheh. and thanks for the support. xinda AND you rock. 🙂
Jefbot, you have finally reached another level of internet fame, you got your first crazy fan, Mewchu! Jefbot, I know how you like to reply to ALL your commenters but please let me respond to Mewchu. Hey Mewchu, it’s a shame that you have to be so rude in your comments to Jefbot. It’s obvious to me that you yourself, at one point, wanted to be an artist of some kind. But somewhere down the road, you gave up. Believe me, I know how hard it is to realize you’re not good at something. The best way around those little hurdles of self-discouragement is to dive deep down in your heart and soul and realize that the reason you sit around ripping other people’s amazing work is because you’re a f&#$ing a$$hole. Now go and get your uncle’s d*ck outta your a$$ and become a PRODUCTIVE member of society.
Oh and again, another STELLAR strip, Jefbot! 😀
wow, um, thanks, Michael. i should have you answer my comments more often. 😉
I just read the entire strip today. I like how you appeal my my demographic, half-white half-asian geekily-interested good-at-math guys with weird hair called Jeffrey
ha! so awesome. glad to know my doppelganger’s out there and doing well, Jeffrey Sun! thanks for reading through the archives and hope you’ll be sticking around for more JEFbot adventures, hapa bro.
Michael Cornacchia makes an excellent point.
MewChu, you are a douche bag of the highest order. Didn’t the thing that squeezed you out teach you that if you didn’t have something nice to say, not to say it at all?
Then again, perhaps it is Michael and I who are the douche bags–after all, we are likely responding to a remark written by a kid who has just entered middle school…
i wonder what douchebags of the lowest order would be, JM? heheh. thanks for the comment, man.
Constructive criticism, a term I actually feel adicted to, contains at least some positiv aspects, always arguing with negative aspects make criticism look pathetic. So if you just fail at criticism, try flaming, its awesome and everyone is able to place it however he feels like! (Here in germany we aren’t used to argue with people, thats why we’re beating everyone up that comes in range // irony aside, is it so hard to be a little nice, even in arguing and stuff?^^)
i see so many blogs and webcomics get spammed by griefers all the time (it’s the nature of the internet, at least here in America, for some reason), Ion, so i feel extremely fortunate that i’ve had so many intelligent, positive readers throughout the two years I’ve been doing this, and relatively few who are just here to spew venom.
Dear Mewchu. I can understand why you hate this webcomic but i cant understand why you have the time to give bad criticism. Do you like crushing dreams? Do you get off knowing that you are an internet bastard? Or do you cry yourself to sleep knowing that you cant draw for shit, not even to save your own life even if your very life depends on it. I’m not a good artist myself but that does not hinder me from appreciating good works such as Jeffbot. If you don’t like this webcomic then just don’t read it. The internet is plenty of bullcrap people like you. And with that i rest my case. Cornfather already said everything. I’m just merely enforcing.
May Cthulhu drive you insane and for the finishing touch eat your still beating heart while he is humping your mother down in your basement.
And Mewchu is an original name? Get a life.
way easier to ignore hatemongers when i have such awesome, enthusiastic readers like yourself, JF3. you guys have said all i even thought about saying, and more. i think whenever these haters appear in the future, i can just refer them to the comments on this page, and we can all move on without devoting any more time and energy to their negativity.
Sorry to let you folks down, but I get the funny feeling– call it intuition, call it having been through the bowels of the internet a few times in the past– that Mewchu is ‘trolling’. That is, for those unaware of the term, essentially ‘seeding’ a forum or comment thread with an insulting post/comment for the ‘humor’ of seeing how many people waste their time responding to the post. Individuals trolling may even enjoy the very object they use as flame-bait, and simply also enjoy pissing people off.
Number 1 rule of Internet Forums: Don’t feed the trolls. Ignore them. They’re nothing more than attention-craving idiots, and denying them attention results in their infantile attention spans going elsewhere.
hear, hear, AvA! have any anti-troll spray i could spritz this site down with?
Things continuing to look up and up, and do i detect a multi player game of footsie ‘kicking off’ in panel three? As for Mewchu i think it best i add a ditto to everyone else’s comments ‘cos i could end up in hot water for typing and posting what i’d really like to say. I doubt very much whether that [expletive deleted] is gonna even dent your ego, go spend a little of the ad revenue, or merch profits on something cool. Big kids don’t need to listen to babies, and when they get too annoying you can just shake ’em ’til they hush up!
yes, “multiplayer footsie” is the next game they’ll be playing on their DS consoles, Deaconvorbis! i just hope jefbot doesn’t lose. heheh. and yeah, my ego’s intact. it’s all [expletive deleted] good! 😀
lol……trolling…thats right AvA…..As the usual DND custom, we must cut these trolls to pieces and burn them.
I luuuuv touching feet.
I should say, I love “touching feet.”
“@ Jeff: Great comic! As one who has to cook for himself, I might try out Cooking Mama. (What a weird title! Makes it sound like it’s a horror-based game about matricidal cannibalism…)”
Good lord I just about spit water all over my computer reading that… freakin’ hilarious.
Fantastic webcomic. Keep up the good work. Another added to my already too-long list of comics. I really need to start sorting them.
Hey Xinda! If you should happen to find “mewchu”s actual name and address, and if something “unfortunate” should occur…. I think I might not be the only one who would testify in court that you were in Peoria at the time.
Not that that would ever happen. Just sayin’ ;)=)
You said: “and jacob, below, is right about cel’s glyph – a thermometer inside a “c” to resemble a “power” symbol as on a computer. funny you should mention the sticker since you’ll be seeing it in future strips, but i can’t reveal more than that just yet. 🙂 ”
Went back through the strips and found this one again. It was bugging me, but now I can only guess that the sticker is of Mu(?) since Cel knows him somehow. (Which I know you will reveal in due time, and now you know that I think waaaaaaaay too much about stuff. Another example: all the contents of JB’s wallet) Man I’m a weirdo. And I feel silly for not realizing that Cel’s symbol is a power button. I have one on my own computer, and never really took the time to look at it. Silly me.
