Musashi and bot are on their way! Now let’s just hope they don’t run into any mountain lions, rattlesnakes and bears. (Oh my!)
Okay, I’m going to stop there. It’s a little after 3:30am and my brain’s starting to melt into pudding and not be able to process things like words correctly and will soon be prone to writing long-winded, run-on sentences, and now I just noticed something I need to fix on the strip so I’m really going to stop now so I can do this fix and post the strip and then get some sleep ‘cuz sleep sounds like a really good idea right now. Happy reading!

Bot seems just a little afraid of just about every wild animal out there
indeed, ZodiacMage – jefbot’s like me: he loves animals but he doesn’t trust wild ones. heck, i barely trust tame ones! (i always see the wildness lurking behind the eyes of domesticated cats and dogs.)
anyway, check you out. you posted the first comment which means you achieved the Shades of Firsting! wear them well – these allow you to see those Wild Things lurking in the dark:
😎
There’s no such thing as a domesticated cat. Merely cats who will tolerate and perhaps even permit humans to share their habitats. Some are better able to pull off the illusion than others, but make no mistake – they ALL are wild. 😉
based on the two cats i had over a decade ago, i believe you 100%, Kageashi!
Going for a walk through the hills huh?
just a little stroll under the moonlight with his mutant monster hamster, TCG!
I have almost nothing against almost everything, but I draw a line at large feline predators. Awful, horrible things.
i read an article about one on a rampage for bicyclists (killed one and attacked another) near L.A., Anime fan! they had to find it and put it down, sadly.
Yup. There used to be people that hunted them to cull the population and instill a fear of humans, but when hunting them was made illegal they got bold and started eating people again, and the one’s that passed the law were quite surprised. But I’ll tell you this, the hunters weren’t surprised in the least.
At least he had the sense to grab a shield.
and if there are wild creatures lurking about at least that makeshift shield will provide some protection, blackjacket42. 🙂
Remember: Spartan soldiers used the edges of their shields as weapons. Think “Brass Knuckles.”
hopefully, bot will keep that in mind, bj42.
XD I get the same runon sentances problem. That and my stammer gets worse… I already have moments where I sound like some DJ is spinning whole chunks of phrases over and over as I ramp up and try getting a phrase out over and over?
^^ haven’t had a chance to say yet, but the comic is awesome so far! Makes my mornings more bearable, that’s for sure; I just have to put away clothes, not invade alien spaceships with my former pets (though considering the dumb things my snakes do, maybe alien abductions would be a step up ^^d)
Can’t wait for Fri to see more X3
thanks for the kudos, JR! glad you’re enjoying the storyline. 😀
and, yeah, when i get tired, making complete and coherent sentences just goes out the window. i’m still pretty tired right now so i’m just hoping i’m making sense right now as i type this.
good luck with your snakes and see you friday!
Why do I get the feeling that Musashi’s friend is a certain blue-haired, smokey-eyed gamer girl?
Nix this theory. It’s the Scarf, isn’t it?
I’m thinking more along the lines of someone who can mutate Miyuki.
that would be helpful, Rainey! they’d still have to make it to the ship for that process to happen, though.
nope, it’s no one we’ve met before, JGT, but it would be cute if Mu was friends with the Angry Scarf. that would blow bot’s mind. but, yeah: nope.
Possibilities abound when you’re dealing with aliens. One wonders… Mass Effect aliens? Halo Aliens? Probably not, but it’d still be awesome to see a turian or an elite somewhere in the series…
i love the turians, JGT – i think they look pretty badass. doubt we’ll see one in this series, though, but you never know… heheh.
Perhaps it isn’t just earthly creatures you must beware of, Bot. If Mu and that mutant-cyborg-rat-thing escaped (did they?), there must be some kind of extraterrestrial guards hunting them down to put them back in.
you’re absolutely right, DAS – bot’s gotta beware of dangers both terrestrial and extraterrestrial! and, yep: Mu escaped, but the mutant possum thing was sent after him.
Perhaps he wasn’t alone? Oh, and after Flamingonator, Cyberpig would be an awesome tech-nimal…
Cyberpig, cyberpig, does whatever cyberpig does,
Can he swing, from a grapling hook?
‘Course he can, ‘cuz he is cyberpig,
LOOK OUT, here comes cyberpig!
Also, it would be awesome to have a whole set of farmyard animals with alien tech creating chaos. And amusing to be the audience. I just came up with something new to sketch when I’m bored 😀
heh. i’ve always loved the book, “Animal Farm” DAS – if i was to ever make a tribute to it, maybe a bunch of cyber farmyard animals would be the way to do it. 😉
I couldn’t come up with the name for it in english. Glad that you understood what I was talking about. 🙂
there will be other mutated creatures, DAS – and a cyberpig may be among them! stay tuned!
I was milling through the possibilities, but decided on the more easy task of counting all the grains of sand on my local beach. >.< I can however say you got me curious! Then again, curiosity is what killed the… A CAT, it's a cat isn't it o_0 OK, no more sugar and coffee for me, breathe Graypatch, breathe…
ha! curiosity did indeed kill the cat, Graypatch. now, let’s hope it doesn’t kill the hamster and/or the human!
Rant like that and two things will happen: shy harmless animals will run or hide and hungry dangerous one will start to track you.
Mu obviously knows what he’s doing but there’s apparently shy and/or dangerous creature on his tail.
i thought talking and making noise was supposed to keep all animals away, Maryz! uh-oh. bot’s in trouble.
and you might just be very right about that last statement…
Well Bot at least has a shield now, so that should provide some protection.
Bot’s going to be miserably tired by the end of this.
yeah, let’s hope he can use it, Fijiman. or at least just hold it up and face it toward the danger, should any pop up.
hahaha poor bot, it seems he is starting to regret turning back. And who is this friend? Things are getting soooo mysterious!
Hopefully your posting schedule goes back to normal soon bot!
heh. yeah, if he wasn’t regretting it before, he certainly is now, what with all the visions of mountain lions circling his head. heheh.
and i’m hoping my schedule will go back to normal soon, too! construction is now done in the bathroom, but they just finished painting and the fumes are pretty nasty. keeping that door closed to limit that for the time being.
Methinks they are either going to get cel or Wil Wheaton and his flying car. A flying car would probably be useful right about now!
Oops gotta run to a meeting! later!
OK, back from my meeting.
I was wondering what Jefbot was doing digging through the trash, then I realized he was getting himself a shield. Tee hee! I’m not sure that lid is going to stop much of anything.
yes! if Wil stopped by with his flying car, that would solve most things, Shanna! i wonder if WW would lend that out? 😉
and, yeah – if a mountain lion or bear attacks, that shield isn’t going to do much but at least it’s something! heheh.
hope your meeting went well!
I’m hoping for a Kung-Fu Koala
that would be badass, Oz!
Or a Sai weilding Sloth.
you never know, marr…
Ok, I think I’m going to give up on camping out for the shades. At least for now. Now, what is this animal? Is it the other space ship?
best to hunt for the Shades casually, GB. don’t let ’em drive you crazy. 🙂
as for the animal – nope, it’s not the other ship. you’ll find out soon.
Very pretty strip. Love the coloring
thanks, DJ! i’ve been pretty happy with the coloring on the past couple of strips. still experimenting in little ways and not all of ’em are pretty, but getting there. 🙂
Shields also make effective weapons, most people don’t however consider them as such. and bot better realise adventures are nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! an make you late for dinner!… as a wise old hobbit once spoke… on the other hand, just think of the stories and discoveries you’ll have.
remains to be seen how well bot will wield that shield, Orzahn – hopefully he’ll know not to just use it defensively! and good reminder with those words from Tolkien! bot better be ready to get his hands dirty and leave his stomach growly. 😀
No shame in being terrified of bears, mountain lions and rattlesnakes. none.
I’m actually more afraid of other people. Ironic considering that not a single person has successfully seriously injured me (knock on wood). Quite a few have tried, however.
i’m afraid of people, too, Rainey – if i didn’t keep my fears bottled up, i’d never leave my apartment! ‘course, i don’t have your street fighting skills.
true that, 11TN – as much as i think they’re fascinating creatures and respect ’em, it’s because of that fascination and respect that i’d rather just leave ’em alone. maybe take a picture of them from a distance. from inside my car. while driving away.
This just made me think of Questionable Content’s Hannelore Ellicott-Chatham. She’s afraid of lots of animals too, which leads me to this question: What are your opinions of tapirs and llamas?
love tapirs (they’re cool looking) but not so hot on llamas, only because i don’t really like camels (so slobbery and bite-y.) i do like their fluffiness, however, so that makes ’em better than camels, at least. 🙂
I’m really enjoying this arc, Jeff!
Intriguing and exciting and well drawn and all sorts of awesomeness.
big thanks, Sarah W! i’m having a blast writing and drawing this storyline so i’m happy you’re enjoying it!
Great arc!
Read this as I’m about to pass out from an 15 mile run, and just realized it was Wednesday.. This was suppose to be a 3 mile run, nothing to big.. But then we started talking while running and all of a sudden we were In a different town.
It’s at this point we stopped running, and then almost fell down on the ground. Waiting for a ride to get me, then diner food then sleep.
In my mind, the person they are going to meet is the restaurant owner/ magic user from big trouble in little china. Then again I’m weird.
don’t pass out, Satoshieyes! heheh. 15 mile run!!? wow. i’m up to about 5-6 miles, and that’s at a slower, steady pace on the ellipsis machine at the gym. heheh. hopefully you made it back okay after all that exertion.
and anything from Big Trouble in Little China’s awesome, so kudos for bringing that up. 😀
At least they aren’t heading to Australia, everything there will try to eat you or poison you.
seriously, marr! i want to go to Australia for that very reason – i LOVE the animals there. (the platypus is one of my favorite creatures) so bizarre, intriguing and dangerous. of course, i wouldn’t want to pet anything or get up in their business, but i’d appreciate them from far away. with binoculars, preferably. 🙂
I couldn’t help but laugh at bot for the mountain lion comment. He’ll be fiiiine.
heh. let’s hope so, Natalie! mountain lions are scaaaarry.
1. Hoping the “Friend” is the mutant scarf.
2. It’s either a testament to Shootzee or PTSD that I’m pretty sure I know exactly where Musashi is jumping the railing to get to the Hollywood trail. Probably a bit of both, since I’ve only visited the site once. And it’s exactly as I remember it.
1) we’ll see, Kageashi. (but probably not, just sayin’. heheh.)
2) that is a real place, so you might be remembering it from first-hand experience! next time you go back, see if you can find a geek in a hoodie and his mutated hamster wandering around the hills. 🙂
You left out the coyote~! I’ve seen a few through out California while living here. They’re perfect predators/scavengers because they are easily mistaken for stray dogs by the untrained masses and they eat anything. When they’re alone they puss out, but multiple can reeeally mess you up!
very true, Foxmouse! coyotes are probably the most likely of those animals you’ll come across in SoCal, and i see them all the time near Burbank and going over Laurel Canyon. in fact, some dastardly ones assassinated the Schuetze Family dog many years ago. 🙁 with any luck, bot might get some payback during this storyline…
Oh no! I’m so sorry that happened, Jef. *hugs* That’s exactly why I bring our cats in at night. We live just 40 min from the San Bernardino Mountains in Rialto and a lot of the old farmland lots are overgrown. We often see coyotes on the road side when trying to get off the 210 or the 15 at night.
yeah, that’s smart to bring your cats in at night. those coyotes don’t mess around.
I love that Jefbot’s first big-letter thought was an ‘M’ for McDonald’s. Ha!
