I had a lot of fun drawing JEFBOT this week. Not that I don’t always have fun when I’m working on the strip but drawing Darth Maul in this one was a bit different for me and I was really happy with the way it turned out. Who knew fan art could be so fun?
So this strip marks #20! Which means JEFBOT has been running for almost… um, four months now? Wow. In some ways that seems like a such a short time, in others it seems like eons ago. That means the Big #25 will be right around the corner. If I can get it together, I’ll try and do something special for that one.
So about this strip. If you’ve read the JEFBOT character bios, you’ll know Michael hosts kids parties on the weekends to supplement his income, just like his counterpart in the “real world”. Yes, this comic was inspired by true events and yes, Michael did have to dress up as Darth Maul recently. With my family, my acting career and having a roommate like Michael Cornacchia, my life is sometimes just like a comic strip. Which makes JEFBOT so easy and so much fun to write and draw every week.
Since we’re on the subject of Michael:
If you’ve ever wondered what the real Michael’s like, tune in to ABC tonight (Wednesday, November 28, 2007, 8/7c) to catch him on Pushing Daisies. It’s a great show and I have no doubt Michael will be great in it. Check it out.
Special thanks to Wookieepedia.com for the great Darth Maul bio. It’s a cool site whenever you’re jonesing for some Star Wars minutiae.
This is just great, Jefbot! And yes, real life can be funny. …and painful. 😉 No, seriously, impressive, man…most impressive. Keep em coming!!
I thought you said he went as JarJar…Hi Mama Schuetze!
Wow, that detail and coloring on the lightsaber and Maul’s cloak are just amazing. Insane. Oh yeah it was funny too…but I’m blown away by the art.
michael, your jabba, maul and vader rule the universe.
fig, no, not jarjar. maybe boss nass.
john, thanks dude. yeah, i was pretty happy with the final result of “maul” myself, which almost never happens.
I can only wonder where you got this idea from? ….I love it….
There was so much to love about this week’s entry! The strip was funny, the art was excellent and Michael was so…Michael! I loved the inclusion of your drawing process and it was interesting to see where our fellow readers are.
