If this week’s strip leaves you perplexed, check out my blog post on the subject by clicking here and know the true terror of the Red Ring of Death.
And no, I’m not as obsessed with videogames as my counterpart in the strip is. I don’t have to play all the games, but I do need to have the option to play them, hence the large number of consoles and unplayed games I’ve accumulated. Really, for every Bioshock, Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect I’ve completed, a Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Uncharted or God of War: Chains of Olympus, will lie untouched. How I fondly remember the times when I could spend entire afternoons, nights, weekends, playing through a game with friends, sometimes more than once! Unfortunately, to get that back again would mean giving up on all my pursuits and dreams, selling most of my stuff and moving back into my parents’ house. …Although it would be nice to reactivate my World of Warcraft account.
See that why I like board games…
This strip is dead on. Again JEFbot, your colors, shading, characters, and dialogue are so good. I feel like I should be paying you to view your webcomic. Sorry about the RROD but I know how quickly you were able to replace it with a new and improved console. 😉
NOT THE RED RING OF DEATH!!! I think it’s so funny, because I have no idea about video games, however, as soon as I saw the first and second frame I knew it couldn’t be good!!! What’s even funnier to me, is that you have the other game boxes, but you must have ALL of them in order to feel at peace! …I definitely relate!
“And no, I’m not as obsessed with videogames as my counterpart in the strip is.” Hmmmm…denial is not just a river in Eqypt my friend. 🙂 I love how you get the coloring on the rings to look like light. Beautiful! Great expression in the third panel.
u r nuts! ps. i hate my computer.
I enjoyed the strip as usual but do not understand the frequent replacement of expensive game equipment! But, then, my level of gaming is challenged by the DS and cell phone w/all too many puzzling features.
I’m so sorry for you loss…
fig, if it doesn’t have an AC plug and at least two analog sticks, I consider it a “bored” game. i kid, i kid.
michael cornacchia, i’ll give you my paypal account info so you can make a donation. and, yes! there’s a new, black, xbox 360 elite at my apartment, just waiting for more play time.
funnyshaffer, yes: no consoles, no peace.
john, it’s true, though! okay, it may be because i have to buy all these games and my counterpart gets his drawn for him but it’s true, nonetheless. 😉 oh, and re: light rings. thanks! ah, photoshop – you are my friend.
unfavorite, “obsessed” i will accept. “nuts” not so much.
jAnonymous, don’t worry. even when gaming on the ds and cell phone, you will learn the “frequent replacement of expensive game equipment.” oh, yes. you will learn.
jeff payton, *sniff* thanks.
i want to give you the name of my ant doctor…
I don’t get it.
Maybe if you could explain it as if the X-Box Thingy were a character in “Beverly Hills, 90210.” Then I might understand.
😉
Still, it looks cool, that ring thing.
#2 Jefbot Fan, sure, i can always use a good ant doctor.
bon, hmmm, a challenge! okay, the xbox 360 is a porsche and i’m dylan on drugs and booze. repeat 3x. hope this helps! 😉
I agree with everyone else about the Red Ring light look. It’s menacing.
Ironically, as I read this comic there is an Xbox 360 being advertised to the right….
I’m pretty much the same way with my model airplanes. I have this huge (800±) collection, and I want to build them *ALL*. (Though I doubt it’ll actually happen. I’m lucky if I can finish two per year…)
wow, just how many people had problems with the RRoD? I still have one of the initial production models (won it in the mountain dew giveaway) and have not had the RRoD yet.
Gotta play em all, Video games!
This is why I have a PS3….No RRoD, AND the online playing’s free.
the only way I’d get an X-Box is if it turned out cel was real…..
p.s. 3 guesses at my PSN gamertag…..
We use to have an Xbox 360. The it got the RedRing and my dad said he could fix it, I gave it to him. Three days later he came and told me he took it apart, all of it, and couldn’t put it back together. I miss that Xbox.
