I don’t collect nearly as many action figures as I used to, but I have boxes and boxes of them stored at both my apartment and parents’ house, all still frozen in time, looking out from their blister packs, waiting for my return.
And no, the title of this strip isn’t a Japanese word I “made up” to be vulgar. It’s a real word and it translates to “revenge.” It looking like a swear word’s just a happy accident.
Awesome! I love the expressions in panel 4. ^_^
thanks, Shay! 🙂
Wee, stumbled onto your site while I was clicking links like a bandit. Awesome work here~! Made me giggle like a school girl in May.
Jefbot must be stronger then your average bear to pull that plastic off so easily. Usually you need the jaws of life to open some of that packaging!
glad you stumbled your way here, Mouse! and i agree about that new-fangled, clam shell packaging you find sealing most products these days – you need an industrial strength saw to get those things open. “the godfather” package, however, was just an old school blister pack. kinda like you’d find on those original star wars figs, so no super strength required. 🙂
Yes…sometimes when we win…we loose! LOVED Cornfathers eyes in the first window. So good JEFBOT!
heheh. so true, Jeff. and poor jefbot can’t seem to win at all in these past few strips.
Ha! The red eyes are fantastic! This was a brilliant strip! I love the remorse in the last frame!! So funny… “Unlike you, I play with my toys…” Too funny!!!
glad you could see the red in jefbot’s pupils, funnyshaffer – was afraid it might be too subtle after looking at it on my laptop.
Geez, no wonder you relate to SubCulture so well, Jeff. LOL!
oh yeah, Stan – geeky nerd here through and through.
it’s so hard for me NOT to open my action figures. it’s an ongoing debate between the fiancee and i. she picks and chooses which ones she’ll put on display on the shelf with our growing menagarie of toys and which ones she’ll put on the wall still in teh box, and she’s pretty good about keeping them in there if that’s the decision she’s made. me, i want to pcik and choose like that, but i just can’t. i want to take them out and pose them and stand them all together and everything else. I bought the new Captain America fig, the first one of Bucky as Cap and was so excited about it that she had to allow me to buy two… one to keep in the box and one to put on the shelf. sigh…..
i completely understand your fiancée’s mindset, Jed: i buy two of ’em, too – one to display and one to store. been more selective about which figures i buy lately though, as i’m running out of room here, but yeah, if it’s a figure i just have to open, i gotta pay double. sad, yes.
silent panel 3 is my favorite. this is such a great strip! you are making me think about the two steamer trunks that i have at my mom’s house full of action figures in their boxes!
your nerd cred goes up with each comment, g! hope those trunks are still safely at your mom’s.
Bot, come here, dear. Let me take your little hand… there… so lets get this lighter in MY hand. And lets BURN YOUR LITTLE HAND!! LOL I can’t believe you. And Michael was going to open it anyway ROFL. In all honestly, Jef, you better leave the whole REVENCE business to your sister since you obviously sux in it XD This is three that Michael have “beat” you XD
On another note, some of my toys are out of their boxes. This happen with the boxes that are so ruined is better to get the toy out. I get them stands and place them under glass domes (the gods bless the Michael’s Stores!!!). They have spots in the electric cabinests and protected by the traines pirahnas of course XD
the more i read of your comments, Sonitan, the more i think you and my sister, Linda, would get along! heheh. oh, and i love those glass display cases, too. i have a few of ’em and need a few more.
Hey Jeff, Thanks for the comment you left over at spacetimecondo. With STC being our first webcomic to work on (I’m just the admin Dave is the real man), Dave and I get a kick out reading comments, especially from fellow webcomic guys. Also, we just wanted to say thanks for the advertising on our site; we put in a request to do some promotion over here.
We’re both digging your artwork, we both appreciate the way your designs have changed since your first strips. Also, I’ve just finished catching up to the latest comic and I’ve definitely put you on my webcomic reading list. Stay tuned over at STC, Dave has some crazy stuff planned. I may also have a few extra nuggets up my sleeve.
thanks for stopping by, Josh and thanks for the kind words. welcome to the wonderful world of webcomics! i’m really digging what you guys are doing over at STC and already have the link in my bookmarks. looks like it’s gonna be a fun ride.
Foiled again… I didn’t see the CF as so devious. Unbeknownst to me, he was a mad genius all along. Maybe when the Jefbot takes a back seat in the revenge business Karma will take care of things.
sadly, the Cornfather doesn’t even have to be devious, eleventeen – he can just sit back and watch jefbot sabotage himself. 🙁
I want a GODFATHER action figure for real!!!! Hahahahaha. Great strip, bot. The colors are so vibrant and I love the dialogue: “What have I done?” I hope in the next strip the Cornfather doesn’t get a horse’s head in his bed. =)
there are real Godfather action figures out there, Michael. when’s your birthday again?
Hysterical. Next Cornfather needs to eat some chocolate and touch all of your graphic novels 🙂
that thought’s gonna give me nightmares for weeks, John.
just give me the word little bro and i’ll eviscerate that evil cornfather’s liver or at the very least, smash that godfather toy into little bits & shove it down a funnel into his vile & fleshy throat… ps. do you want to see hotel doggy?
uhh… “no” on Hotel for Dogs and “no” on violence toward the Cornfather.
I hear “What have I done?” in a small slightly out of tune squeak. 🙂 nice job on today’s strip. 🙂
thanks, Matt! would be interesting to hear how people interpret the characters’ voices.
kill the cornfather
i don’t think that’s an option for jefbot at this point, seth6.
How could Jefbot open it? Yikes! It hurts me.
it was almost like therapy just drawing jefbot opening it, Lor. 🙂
oh no! the package!!!! btw, I like the silence of the 3rd panel.
gracias, alecho. that 3rd panel was a late decision, but i’m glad i ended up putting it in.
Reaction A: Sometimes, revenge is a dish best not served at all…
Reaction B: When you seek revenge, dig two graves; one for your dignity, and one for your unopened “Godfather” action-figure.
ha! thanks for the insightful comment, reynard61. if there’s a lesson to be learned from the past few strips, i think your reactions sum it up well.
you little pig! i wanted to see grand torino!!!
um, if you’re in the calabasas area on fridays, stellak, coolhand and i are usually seeing a movie after work. come say hi!
Brilliant! I too love the third panel….many times I’ve been stunned thus only to realize the pain I’ve caused myself…….
I must cry now
LoL great strip!
heheh. glad you could relate so much to the strip, Eptha. now dry those tears! 😉
I have to agree, the comic timing of that third panel is fantastic. I think the one thing I’d have loved to see is a tear welling up in your eye in the last panel.
i could see a tear totally working there, Stan. my decision was based on portraying jefbot’s initial shock – the tears will come next, for sure. 🙂
Lol xD Love the last panel!
thanks, Nat! even without the first three panels, i think it’d still be a funny image for someone to come across.
i <3 jefbot, he is hot
wow! thanks for that, princessvail86!!! you might wanna take a look at him in the early strips, though. i think he’s aged quite well. 😉
You captured ‘guilty pleasure perfectly in cornfather’s face in the last panel =)
thanks, Trones! i think that’s the first time any JEFbot character has had that particular expression, so i’m glad it worked.
lol..i was right…the revenge plan was diabolical. shame it backfired. i know how jefbot felt. my illidan stormarage action figure is till in his box. cant bear to the hands tha ripped him out of his slumber.
did you have one of those super high squecky voices when that happend?
I had a mint soundwave reissue, but I had to play with it! Lazerbeak was just too cool to resist!
