you gotta get here way early to be first, most days, Pearl; JEFbot readers are up at all hours, it seems. and while it remains to be seen whether jefbot’s actually in love with cel, he’s definitely crushing hard on her. 🙂
Lots of dialogue in this one (except for the 3rd panel 😛 ), and I have to ask: Do guys really think and talk like JB? If so, they’ re just as similar to chicks as you can get. (intoxicated or not.) This was a great one, and have to say that I love CFs flippy floppies! I love JB’s face in the last 2 panels, so cute! Again, if I could, I would totally give JB a hug.
oh yeah, us guys totally think and stress out like that, spanky, especially when it’s over someone we like! and yes, the Cornfather may not have his swim trunks on yet, but he’s definitely sporting his flippy floppies. heheh. and jefbot could use one of your hugs right now, especially since he’s literally on the edge (well, of a pier). 😉
Oh… Sad one today… Hang in there Jefbot! I think it’s going to work out… Maybe she’s waiting for it to get dark… So she can be with you next to a hot fire on the beach!!!
glad you stumbled across my site and thanks for the compliments, Praveen! looks like you and i have been doing webcomics for roughly the same amount of time. 🙂
thanks, JK – it’s been a lot of fun (and work) doing these beach strips! next time we hang, maybe i can give you a lesson, otherwise, i’ve been thinking about posting a tutorial here on the site, showing how i do a strip from start to finish.
That’s the One Great Truth about male/female relationships: You’ve gotta have a common interest *somewhere* in it or it’s pretty much doomed to failure from the get-go.
so true, reynard61. yeah, opposites attract and all, but there’s gotta be something there, even if it’s as miniscule as a love for early 80s video game consoles.
And he keeps telling us that he has NO crush on her
*bwuahahahahahhahahhhaaahhahahahahhahaha!!!*
I like the view. But then… I just got this itch… to push them both off the pier… But no Musashi. I would make sure Musashi is saafe before I give into mt craving of pushing both jef and Michael off.
*evil laugh of doom*
i think the mixture of alcohol, being out of his element and the feeling of rejection has made jefbot a little soft, Sonitan. and if Xinda were there, i think she’d be thinking the same as you: push the guys off, save the hamster! 🙂
Yet another amazing strip, bot. You never cease to amaze me. I love how you combine issues that EVERYONE has with lingo that only a select few geeks out there will get. Yet your strips are so universal. That takes a unique kinda mind, man. You make us ALL happy. I especially love your facial expression in the last panel.
Im still trying to handle the awesomness of third panel. Cornfather, Musashi and Jefbot are all perfect in there. I would reqest a walper of it but I fear that it wouldnt have such affect as stand-alone. Too bad about that, its a nice piece of art and situation humour.
Spanky is right you have a way with naming. And yes, we guys have those kinds of conversations but we have different criteria for partners as you may have noticed. But dont worry, its not that often we have girltalks.
Oh, and Sonitan, I think that people get a little more sinciere with themselves when some alcohol is in effect, maybe thats why Jefbot is not in denial right now. Besides if he admitted it sooner he may have had to listen to Cornfathers *Geeks in love* more than once and thats scary enough, so I can totaly understand him.
thanks, Maryz! glad you like that 3rd panel – maybe it’d work as an iPhone wallpaper? even without context, it’s kind of a funny image, since the look on jefbot’s face is so forlorn. hmm.
glad you take the time to read those titles, too. sometimes they come to me immediately, and sometimes i have to coax them out. either way, happy to know they’re noticed. and yes, no matter what the “criteria” i think we’re all capable of getting in touch with our feelings and talking about ’em. but alcohol definitely helps. 🙂
oop! just read your last paragraph and see that you understand and can even relate to the whole “in vino veritas” aspect to this particular strip.
Bwahahaha! Does anyone else notice the sputtering effects around the Cornfather`s head in panel 3?! PRICELESS!!
I just finished backtracking through every old issue of jefbot. you have some REAL talent bud, and it`s awesome to see how this comic has grown and changed for the better since the very first strip.
Congrats on the excellent work but..
RANDOM QUESTION
has jefbot given up on his acting career? or is cel gonna find him some kind of part in a high-up movie or sumthin? ;D
Just an idea…
yeah, those popping bubbles are a bit subtle, but glad you noticed them, SonikkuWii. i might have to make them more apparent as it changes the meaning of the Cornfather’s pause there, if you see them. 🙂
and thanks a ton for reading through the archive and noticing the strip’s evolution. it’s been a fun ride and i hope to continue as long as possible!
answer to RANDOM QUESTION: nope, jefbot hasn’t given up on his acting career. actually, i have a future “acting” arc brewing, but there are a couple stories left in the queue before i can start it. stay tuned!
cel definitely has it goin on, Eptha! is it possible for cel to live up to jefbot’s idealized notions of her, though? or maybe she really is that cool. 😉
3rd panel shows “you dont need dialogue to promote intense epicness”, a great strip tho and the title perfectly fits. And I’ve got to admit, ladies fitting to gamer conditions are seldomly met here in germany (so there are really plenty of them, but GUESS WHAT, its impossible to have a girlfriend that is BETTER than you in gaming… it would be to depressive for my massiv ego ._. *says one of the many voices in my head*)
ooh – “intense epicness” – i like that description, Ion! and yes, even here in the U.S., where running across girl gamers is becoming more frequent, they’re still a rare commodity, which makes cel even more precious to jefbot. heheh. if they get together, competition between them will be just one of the issues they’ll have to face, for sure. 😀
jef has found his someone special go player!!! great job making this more about romance and geeky geeks need love too (im a geek and i cant find a girl)
Yes! The intellivision was my first gaming system ever! Awesome.
me too, D. Long! so the debate over intellivision vs. atari 2600 is settled then: intellivision wins. 😉
Dang! Just a few minutes sooner and I would have been FIRST!
I love it that he’s in love!!!
you gotta get here way early to be first, most days, Pearl; JEFbot readers are up at all hours, it seems. and while it remains to be seen whether jefbot’s actually in love with cel, he’s definitely crushing hard on her. 🙂
It’s always fun to watch the intoxicated try to think. xD
heheh. i agree, Foxmouse. and while the Cornfather isn’t sloppy drunk (yet), he’s definitely in that slow-thinking, buzzed mode.
awwww geeks in love. always cute ^^
it might just be “geek” in love, DJ, since we don’t know if cel feels the same way about ‘bot. 🙂
Lots of dialogue in this one (except for the 3rd panel 😛 ), and I have to ask: Do guys really think and talk like JB? If so, they’ re just as similar to chicks as you can get. (intoxicated or not.) P.S. You always have the most inventive titles for your strips. I love it!
thanks much, spanky! always nice to know readers are looking at those titles. 😀
i’m not going to lie. i was checking out the cornfather’s package in several of those panels.
um, okay… thanks?
Oh… Sad one today… Hang in there Jefbot! I think it’s going to work out… Maybe she’s waiting for it to get dark… So she can be with you next to a hot fire on the beach!!!
there’s a very good chance of that being the case, funnyshaffer.
w0w just stumbled accross your website (from a ad on mine lol) I have to say, i absolutely love your style! Keep it up!
glad you stumbled across my site and thanks for the compliments, Praveen! looks like you and i have been doing webcomics for roughly the same amount of time. 🙂
It’s love at first Pong.
I’m really loving the coloring of the beach strips. Just gorgeous and eye popping! I still want you to give me an inking/coloring/shading tutorial!
thanks, JK – it’s been a lot of fun (and work) doing these beach strips! next time we hang, maybe i can give you a lesson, otherwise, i’ve been thinking about posting a tutorial here on the site, showing how i do a strip from start to finish.
i think Jeffbot just nailed (described perfectly) the ideal woman. : )
nailed her? he barely knew her! sorry, Cogwell, you set that joke up too easily for me to let it go. 😉
….Cornfather, what was your first clue?
hehe nice Jef, Nice
heheh. yeah, the Cornfather, buzzed or not, definitely has a knack for stating the obvious, Zach.
That’s the One Great Truth about male/female relationships: You’ve gotta have a common interest *somewhere* in it or it’s pretty much doomed to failure from the get-go.

Intellivision’s “Q-Bert” stole my pre-pubescent years…
so funny – i was just thinking about Q*Bert the other day, JM! i wonder if it’s available on XBOX Live Arcade…
Poor ‘bot. C’mon Cel! Show up!
soon, Stan. SOON! 😀
And he keeps telling us that he has NO crush on her
*bwuahahahahahhahahhhaaahhahahahahhahaha!!!*

Is Jefbot even old enough to remember Atari and Intellivision?! I’m 38 and I was only 8 or 9 when I got my first Intellivsion!
jefbot exists in that “comic strip” pocket of frozen time, where he’ll be 25-30 years old for the foreseeable future, Tim.
Yet another amazing strip, bot. You never cease to amaze me. I love how you combine issues that EVERYONE has with lingo that only a select few geeks out there will get. Yet your strips are so universal. That takes a unique kinda mind, man. You make us ALL happy. I especially love your facial expression in the last panel.
thanks for yet another blush-inducing comment, MC! as long as the strip makes people happy, i’ll continue to make it. 😳

great comment, Maryz!
i sense drunken emo guy around here………..come on JB…toughen up. or MU will probably do it.
don’t worry, JF3 – jefbot has, like, one more panel of brooding left in him, and then… well, you’ll just have to wait and see. 🙂
The last few strips were amazing! Great colors!:)
Continue ton beau travail!
very happy you liked them, bébéfille – merci beaucoup!
Bwahahaha! Does anyone else notice the sputtering effects around the Cornfather`s head in panel 3?! PRICELESS!!

I knew there was more goin on with Cel! She does sound like a gamer’s dream.
cel definitely has it goin on, Eptha! is it possible for cel to live up to jefbot’s idealized notions of her, though? or maybe she really is that cool. 😉
3rd panel shows “you dont need dialogue to promote intense epicness”, a great strip tho and the title perfectly fits. Please stop trying so hard to look like a hardcore gamer.
Jefbot’s personality’s really starting to shine. He has a strong voice. I like it.
jef has found his someone special go player!!! great job making this more about romance and geeky geeks need love too (im a geek and i cant find a girl)
