I totally didn’t mean for today’s strip to be a double-decker, it’s just I couldn’t get the timing right with the standard 3-4 panel layout (and believe me, I tried). I think the extra panels were worth it though, as the whole thing just flows better now. Plus, this is a pretty important moment in this storyline as we see jefbot really being thrown for a loop at cel’s sudden departure and I didn’t want to rush his moment. 🙂
Awwwww! Musashi looking up at Jef in panel 4 is so sweet!!!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!! Cute Musashi!!
*cuddles*
Huh? No way! I’m first?!
*faints*
*comes back to life to keep commenting*
Poor Jef. That first panel got lot of emotion. I enjoy the talent you got with facial expressions, jeff. And that last panel, *sigh* what’s a boy in love to do, huh?
But to jump into the sea with Musashi… and that poor hamster being able to hold himself… I thought he was stonned! Man, apparently hamsters recover really fast from hangovers.
*lol*
Wonderful strip as usual, jeff, the art if lovely. Thank you for sharing with the rabid fans.
glad you spotted that little detail of Mu looking up at ‘bot in that fourth panel, Sonitan – i thought it was pretty cute, too. heheh. and thanks for the kudos on the expressions since i tend to spend a lot of time on drawing them, trying to get each one just right. and yeah, if Mu needed a wake up call from all that partying he did with the Cornfather, being doused with cold ocean water is as good as any! 🙂
Awwww. I’m glad he went back and got it. And may we see more of Cel soon, I hope!
me, too: he would’ve regretted it had he left it there. and yes! cel will be back, Murrday, but not for a little while.
Loving the moon in the first panel, and so fitting seeing as to how last night was a full moon. That second panel is awesome with the color change to show emotion.
Have to ask though: Do guys think like that, honestly? (Referring to the first panel, and JB’s train of thought.) If so, men and women are more alike than anyone dares to admit. (Well maybe someone of science would admit it, but neither of the sexes will.. I just did. *shrug* 😛 )
That’s the second time I’ve seen JB pout/scowl, so Cel better be worth all the questions and brooding. 😛 (Loved the “bloop” sound effect) Mu got a bit of a wake-up call there (aside from the jilt from a very drunk CF) with taking a dip in the ocean with JB to retrieve the Odie pez pong tourney award.
Also had to add.. JB looks like an emo kid with his hair all wet like that, I guess it’s fitting considering Cel has him all twisted up at the moment. And thinking back, JB got soaked via Cel when she showed up at the beach party, and here he is at the end of the strip soaking wet again. Hmm.. was that what Cel was going for, since she seems to like dumping things on him. Was a nice treat to have the double-decker strip, so thank you for that! Looking forward to what’s gonna be happening come Friday!
yeah, that moon came out better than i thought it would, Spanky – i just used a little bit of the photoshop brushes for the darker grey areas and some eraser brush on the side in shadow and voilà! instant moon.
and i can’t speak for all guys but yeah, a lot of us think like that. 🙂
yeah, poor Mu – he’s been kinda abused, recently.
emobot! kinda what i looked like on the set of Grey Skies. heheh. and yes, ‘bot always seems to get soaked whenever cel’s around. and you’re right – it’s a nice bookend to this storyline, even if it was unintentional. 😀
Beautifull. Just beautifull.
thanks, Maryz. glad you thought so. 🙂
well, there’s a benefit of webcomics over print right there: todays strip work better in a format different from the standard x number of panels in a row format. and i can do that cuz it’s my site and i don’t have to aruge with newspapers or syndicates to get permission. huzzah!
100% right, Jed! man, sometimes i forget but it really is nice to have complete control over what i do on JEFbot as far as content, format, schedule, etc. is concerned. i mean, i could have a quadruple-decker (100-decker, even!) strip if i wanted. webcomics really are an amazing medium.
Yep, what Jed said. Go nuts with the panels, whatever is appropriate! This one works very well.
With my comic, the first 15 or so were all standard, one-row comics, until I started getting different ideas that required more space and different formats. So, I drew them longer, wider, skinnier, whatever I needed to tell the story. It’s your own creation, so go crazy!
i’ve loved how your strip’s evolved, D.! and yeah, being able to do whatever we want with our strips is part of what makes it so fulfilling to do webcomics. most of the time i’ll try and stick with the 3-5 panel, one-row strip, but every so often (like with last year’s Christmas Bat strip) it’s nice to just change things up a bit.
and not having to get permission or answer to anyone but oneself makes it that much more satisfying. 🙂
…oh, I’ve been there… so angry and confused! Hold on Jefbot, in time she’ll reveal herself to you! I LOVE the color and mood of this strip… That moon is AMAZING!
thanks, FS. but jefbot wants cel to reveal herself now! 😉
Aw. Poor JefBot. 🙁 And poor little wet Musashi! I’m glad he hung on for the Pez retreival!
This strip is so awesomely real. And yes, the moon is fabulous!
heheh. yes, poor Musashi hung on while jefbot had to go get that “trophy” back. he’s a strong little guy!
love thepez flying out of odie
it appears Odie got the “pez” scared out of him when jefbot threw him into the ocean, Anonymous! 😉
Enjoying this storyline, Jeff. It’s taken a fun turn!
thanks, KF! glad you’re enjoying the ride.
Lol this is awsome i readed all the 186. comic pages in 1 time… CRAP forgot about homework.. btw is it gona end well between them?
don’t neglect your homework, J.J! your teachers might not accept “reading JEFbot” as an excuse!!! heheh. i do appreciate you reading through all my strips, though.
as for whether things will end well for cel and ‘bot – you’ll have to keep reading. 😉
She’s just not that into you, Jefbot. On the bright side, you got a nice Pez out of the deal.
we’ll have to wait to see what cel’s excuse is for leaving before making that assumption, Jules! and yeah, jefbot got a nice pez dispenser, but now it’s filled with soggy pez. 🙂
Odie looks kinda sick in the last panel. ^^
heheh. yeah, he does a bit, Cemalidor. maybe he didn’t know how to swim. 😉
Good call, Cemalidor. Odie looks devastated that he was tossed into the ocean LOL
all three of them look pretty devastated there, JM!
hide your tears…hide your tears, WITH SEA WATER!
ha! yes, the ocean is the perfect way to mask those tears, ZachLight!
I’ve done that before with fire. Not smart.
ooh, yeah. hard to retrieve things once they’re on fire. do you have some melted love token tucked away in the back of your closet, CheddarMan?
JEFbot + Angst = kinda sweet, in an amusing sort of way. And, yes, that starscape is quite lovely!
thanks, reynard61 – stay tuned, more angst to come!
Phenomenal! You know when to have dialogue and when not to. I love the colors and facial expressions (as usual) but more than that, I love the simplicity of this strip. You’re hitting home runs, bot!! Keep knockin em outta the park!!
big thanks, MC! sometimes simplicity is the hardest thing to do. 🙂
D’AWWWWW I knew he’d go back for it. ^^
heheh. thanks for the “D’AWWWWW,” DJ.
i knew u’d gonna regret throwing it….wahahaha…now just to get the confirmation of cel as an alien…..
no confirmation yet, JF3!
darn it…..i cant get enough of cel though…cel, if u r an alien, please probe me 1st…lolz
be careful what you wish for, JF3! 😉
Aw, save Odie!
don’t worry, Nat – odie’s fine! 🙂
Aww. Musashi went for a swim, too.
Really loving the comic so far, jeff. I would like to say my lack of time (or recent artistic activity) is keeping me from doing some kind of web comic, or SOMETHING with the ideas rattling around in my head, but I think the timing would really bite me in the ass. all the stuff I would like to express kind of requires multiple, similar panels. Like, my whole schtick is kind of military and emergency response (and the constant physical effort needed to keep yourself in shape). could you imagine doing a strip to give the reader a feeling for the character experiencing muscular failure doing push ups? That’s a double decker, if you really want to get the point across. Or intubating a patient, using a laryngoscope to visualize the larynx (I believe, not a paramedic yet), sliding the tube in, pulling the stylet out, ventilating the patient… I want to show this stuff to people (along with the crazy stuff we get up to) but the timimg is killing me!
