As I’ve been in Hawaii since last Wednesday (blog post here), I haven’t been able to catch the Captain America movie just yet, but it looks fun and promising. Judging from the trailers, it looks much better than I thought it would, actually, so I’m hoping it delivers. Anybody see it? Was it any good? I’m sure I’ll grab my awesome shield and sweet mask when I return home and see the movie, even with all the comic book fatigue happening amongst my friends.
I’m with the title of this strip; it’s never enough! At least when they’re good…I hear from a friend (whose nickname is Captain America) that it’s amazing. So I plan to go see it after I get paid this Thursday. Hope all’s well for you in Hawaii!
agreed, T: the answer to the Cornfather’s rant is “Never Enough” with the caveat, “when they’re good.” and the quality of comic book films this year has been all over the place.
and, yes! all’s well in Hawaii, thanks. will be sad to leave, soon.
well, well, well – once again, you’ve used your ninja skillz to get the jump on other BOTreaders and have claimed the Shades of Firsting for yourself. these happen to have little wings attached to the sides, so might be perfect for seeing a certain patriotic hero in the theater when you get paid:
๐
Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard…I might have to take a weekend and just watch all the hero movies in the theatre, just to get a feel for what’s out there now. Now that my show’s closed, I’ll have the time again…hmm.
I know what you mean! I was the same way about my Cali trip…I was glad to come home and be back in my little apartment, but I also was sad to leave.
Yays! I shall treasure the wingรฉd Glasses, and wear them proudly. ๐
yeah, having too much fun out here on Oahu with friends ‘n family, but excited to get back to L.A. to work on some new JEFbot stuff for august (but not rushing my return. gotta squeeze all the vacation out of this trip i can! heheh). will post about the fun stuff soon.
Can’t wait to hear all about your fun times in Hawaii!
On a semi-related note, what do you think about the Spiderman reboot? I think it’s a tad soon after the first trilogy…but maybe it’ll work out?
i was totally against it at first – i actually wanted to see Raimi redeem himself with a 4th film after dropping the ball so hard with Spider-Man 3, but the more i see of the reboot, the more excited i get about it.
Invisible shades of seconding, here I come (?).
I’m so there for Cowboys vs. Aliens — they had me at the title!
And don’t forget the next Sherlock Holmes — he’s a superhero, too.
yes, the InvisoShades are yours, Sarah W! heh.
i’ll be right there in line for Cowboys & Aliens and the Sherlock Holmes sequel with ya. hoping for good things from both! (especially C&A.)
3rd…lolz
woo! i don’t have any more shades to give tho, jf#300. will ya take a slightly used pair of 3D glasses i accidentally took from a showing of Bolt?
Yes i will….harharharhar…cant wait to see Cap A/
I have seen the film in question and the verdict is: WAY better than expected. They did a pretty darn good job with this one, and while I’ve never been a Captain America guy, I’m now, as they, a true believer…although I feel it broke some sacred commandment by using the same actor to play El Cap as the Human Torch from F4. So much for an Avengers/Fantastic Four crossover.
Ya know…I’m on the fence here. After some of the crap I’ve seen (The Incredible Hulk anyone?!) I’m a little soured. And this year seems to be the year for Supe movies…Every other week there’s a new one. I wait for them on RedBox because I can;t afford to watch a turkey LOL.
Speaking of which, hubby rented Sucker Punch…I heard so many mixed reviews. I’m hoping it’s at least decent.
And Season of the Witch. That was EXCELLENT! I loved every moment of that movie. But then again, I’m totally into that whole supernatural thing.
I love the look on CF’s face in panel 3 and JB’s response in panel 4. Cracked me right up.
Enjoy the rest of your vacay and remember your sunscreen! Don’t make me give you a Pixie Glare!
I like your new picture Pixie. ๐
Thank you Fijiman!
I loved it! Tommy Lee Jones as the gruff drill sargeant is deeply tongue-in-cheek and seems to be enjoying it.
Also the CG used to shrink Chris Evans to a ninety pound weakling was pure movie magic, state of the art.
See it when you get home, in 3D.
From what I hear, it outgrossed Deathly Hallows part 2 – so if you take the better income = better movie approach, I’d say it has a good chance at being good.
I saw it last night not really knowing anything about the Captain America story line and I absolutely loved it! ๐ It might be my new fave Superhero movie. And my husband, who’s a total comic geek, said he thought that this might be the best of the Marvel superhero movies so far. Oh, and I’m sure this goes w/o saying but stay until the credits are over. ๐
Hope you enjoy your Hawaiian vacation! It sounds wonderful! ๐
Heh and I thought it was bad that I wore my Slytherin t-shirt to the HP finale…until I got there and people were dressed as actual characters ‘n such.
Yep, geek overload…just sucks that geek stuff is “cool” right now…I like being not cool…Ugh, am I going to have to pop my collar and wear spray on tan now because I’m a “cool kid”…shoot me, please…
(looks like you’re having a great time in Hawaii, whatcha bringing me??? LOL Safe travels and many more pictures posted, I hope!)
I will never ever let you be a hipster douche Mamacita! Have no fear. We will be Spicy Latina Spectacular! Not everyone can has that!
I call the 1911. ๐
How did you get the little evil face?
Lets just say I’m a twisted person. And now they’re re-remaking spiderman, again.
Screw you guys! It doesn’t come out in Ireland until Friday! ARRRGGGHHHH!!!
Oh well, it’ll be worth the wait ๐
I sorta want bot’s Cap mask ๐ I’ll trade him my Iron Man one if he wants ๐
Ha ha ha. I love this one. The Cornfather clearly doesn’t have what it takes to be a true geek (and I’m not even sure he’s trying!). The trailer does look pretty good. I’ll probably wait till it’s out on DVD tho.
Speaking of DVD, I saw on Michael’s FB yesterday that Grey Skies will be rentable in Oct! Awesome! I can’t wait to see it.
It better be on RedBox! I want to point to Michael and Jeff and tell hubby I KNOW THEM! Well…I Internet know them!
Wait. What? What’s going on? What are you talking about?
Grey Skies. It’s a movie that Michael and Jeff were in about a year ago.
If I ever get around to doing so, I’ll have to look into that.
I LOVE the color in this weeks strip! So cool, and perfect for a Captain America kickoff!
LOL. Seriously, Holywood is overdoing it again. If it continues like this in few years nobody will want to go to all gazzilion remakes of these comic movies. But they are trying to milk the money cow and we all know that makes them not so bright and short sighted. *Sigh.*
I cant comment on strip itself, Jefbot, sorry. Its just too awesome.
Great strip as usual!
Cornfather just doesn’t understand. Being a geek/nerd takes dedication and sacrifice! Now with Captain America out we now have shields to treat our fandom like 300.
Either come back carrying it, or come back on it.
After some of the lines I’ve been in for these movies, I understand the “on it” part a little too well.
๐
I’ve not gotten the chance to see it, but my father and brother did. My father is an avid fan. His exact quote was “FINALLY. Someone did Captain America justice.”
…….I’m guessing that means it was awesome?
Well from what my brother told me when he saw the old movie the other day is that the old one was awful. Hopefully that means that the new one is really good.
It’s never enoguh……never.
Hope you are having a good time JB ๐
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ENOUGH! nerds always crave, they always need to feast, they must soak in the pop culture, they must feed…
Sorry what? Right anyways. I think captain america is one of the ones I’ve seriously been looking forward to. I was into that guy since I was a kid. CAPTAIN america??? If someone names themselves a captain of america, you know he’s awesome. I’d even go as far to say he’s on the same level as batman, but you know it’s batman…
I’m sorry, but I checked out of comic book movies as soon as I realized that NONE of them will be handled correctly until EVERY Marvel and DC license is returned to Marvel and DC. Admit it, when Johnny jumped off the Baxter Building, you wanted to see a shot of Spidey swinging amongst the skyscrapers of NY; while Peter squared off against Sandman and Venom, you craved an appearance of DareDevil jumping around the rooftops of Hell’s Kitchen; as Jean sacrificed herself to save all the people she cared about, you wished for a glimpse of a certain group of Canadian heroes.
(As you can no doubt tell, I’m more of a Marvel fan than DC.)
I saw it. It was AWESOME. Stuff blows up.
It’s funny, when I went to see HP7 part 1, when we (and I mean the entire audience) saw that Cowboys vs Aliens was called Cowboys vs Aliens everyone laughed. Don’t know why, but it was funny.
Sometimes…but only sometimes…I know exactly how Cornfather feels in this strip… I’m just hoping against hope that Conan isn’t ruined…
there is no such thing as enough!
:Transformers: Dark of the Moon” friggen rocks, that is all!!!
Gaze into those spiral eyes / one look and you’re hypnotized
He’s having quite the breakdown, doesn’t he?
Yes folks, he’s gone nuts.
It was AWESOME!!!!
The Geek shall inherit the Earth.
I just think of it as people in the movie business who can’t think of their own Ideas so they go to the comic shop for cheap skripts.
on a side note, if cornfather doesn’t want the shield i’ll gladly take it ๐
Captain America was, by far, the best comic book movie to date. Mere words cannot express it.
I have to agree there is NEVER enough…. I am actually sad that due to being over worked under paid and in debt, I have yet to see ANY of those listed movies yet…. Its killing me….
I haven’t seen any of them either, but it’s mostly because I don’t want to.
Well hello der! KB here. I just saw Cap with my dad. He was more disappointed than me (he grew up reading the Earth-616 comics and cannot grasp the massiveness of the multiversal setting that is the Marvel-verse). I keep trying to explain it to him, but it’s like talking to a brick wall. Anyhoo. I liked it. SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER There is a clip from the Avengers movie after the credits SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER.
Stuff at the end of the credits is why most of my family stays until everything is done. It usually means that we’re the last ones in the theater by the time the clean up guys come in.
90% of all Marvel movies have something that pops up during the end credits. I mean, if you’re not waiting around during the credits, you truly do not know Marvel that well.
Here’s my take on the recent slew of comic book movies:
While I felt that Thor and Captain America weren’t as awesome as they could have been, they were good. And I’ve come to the realization that the only reason that Marvel’s racing to get these guys out now is because it’s almost a prerequisite to making the Avengers movie next year.
In the case of “NEVER ENOUGH,” I’m too much of a nerd to think there will EVER be too many corny sci-fi flicks in a year. So much so that I plan on seeing Cowboys & Aliens, 11-11-11, Three Musketeers, Immortals, the new Sherlock Holmes (with Stephen Fry as Mycroft Holmes YAY), Tin Tin and anything else remotely interesting sci-fi wise that I forgot to mention.
great strip! I’ll go see captain america with you if I can wear the mask!
xoxoxoxoxooxoxo
Lol! I’m loving all the superheroe movies coming out! (: I missed Green Lanturn but I wont miss Captain America!!!
Just saw it last night. Totally cool set-up for the Avengers.
