I’ve done this a few times during my moves – had so many boxes and things clogging up my new apartment that I pretty much couldn’t live in or sleep (i.e. find or reach the bed) there for a few days before I unpacked and got organized. One time I unleashed this box onslaught onto my parents’ living room when I was between living spaces. The only reason I got away with that was because my dad was away on his annual months-long camping trip. Lucky me.

Fighting a cold and should probably get some sleep so signing off now. *sneeze* *cough* *blegh*
Poor ‘bot… feel better soon!
Yeah, this move hasn’t been kind to bot, Insectoid, but that’s almost always the case in my experience.
And thanks for the “feel better”! i couldn’t rest comfortably knowing i hadn’t awarded the Shades of Firsting and check you out – how many times have you achieved them this year??? Anyways, congrats! wear these well: they might help you navigate a labyrinth of your own making in the future:
😎
okay, now really crawling off to bed.
I haven’t been keeping count. 🙂 Get some rest, now!
an ocean of gnerd to navigate….. always a fun time.
depends how wide the ocean is and how long it takes to navigate, Maesonic! otherwise, it’s just a sea of tears.
I went through that quite a bit…though I didn’t have nearly as much stuff. I lived in the Philippines for 2 years and moved around several times…it wasn’t until the last time that I finally got everything unpacked and really got everything settled in and set up well for the 4 months I was there. It definitely felt good to get a fresh start done right! 🙂
You’re awesome for going to the Philippines. (I’m a pinoy!)
congrats on getting everything settled in and set up after all those moves, ZAD-Man. i hope to be able to attain that “fresh start” feeling, someday!
bot is still correct though, a fresh start… of tribulation.
remains to be seen if bot ever gets that “fresh start” which will lead to the “tribulation” you speak of, ShadowShuffler!
Ha! I was waiting for this ever since you started moving.
i’m happy to not disappoint you, Maryz! 🙂
Looks like you moved into the Raiders of the Lost Ark warehouse!
Don’t worry. If I know Jeff, he’s got Top Men looking for his bed.
TOP. MEN.
of course, if bot designs his new apartment anything like his old one, the “Raiders” warehouse will be exactly what it looks like, Brad L.! (see: JEFBOT.214)
Dang, I’ve had that happen… come to think of it, that’s still happening XD
Hope ya feel better soon!
happy you could relate, JeweledRose! and yep, was kinda out of it for the past couple’a days, but feeling better today, thanks. 🙂
thank goodness for nearby friends and family who can always be hit up for a place to crash for a couple of nights!
So sorry you are feeling blergy. I hope you feel better quickly! And I just realized that I missed your b-day recently. Happy belated! I hope it was a good one. 😀
very true, Shanna – bot might just have to suck it up and crash at a friend or family member’s place while he gets organized!
thanks for the bday wish! it was definitely a good one, and i’m continuing to celebrate. 🙂
and almost over this cold! *blegh*
Wait….there was a comic before this one that I missed?!?! *turns herself in for flogging with wet noodles or what have you.*
Good Morning BOTiverse. Yes I too hate the daunting task of unpacking everything your already packed and putting it away! I find it helps if you can at least get it in the correct rooms. Cause that only happens like the first 3 days of a move, then it’s “Just put it where ever there is space and I will figure it out later!” Still trying to figure it out….2 years later.
Tonight I start my walking regimen. Nothing too strenuous at first. Maybe a half a mile just to get loosened up. Then slowly adding more distance. Tired of being tired.
Good for you Pixie! Starting to exercise is hard, but it always feels good afterward. I am at a point where I am having a hard time motivating myself to get up and go exercise at 5:30 am (I’ve been doing it for about 3 yrs), but I have friends who I only see there, so I HAVE to! If you can get a friend to go with you, you can hold each other accountable. It definitely helps me!!!
5:30 A.M., Shanna!?? i am in absolute awe of you! i’m not sure there’s enough motivation (or caffeine) in the world to get me up at that hour. heheh.
g’morning! don’t flog yourself too much, Pixie – my schedule’s been a bit crazy lately, so it’s easy to miss a comic here or there.
and your comment about putting the boxes in the correct rooms is a great tip! i’ve tried doing that for the most part but as you said, that invariably turns into a scramble to fit things into every crevice you can find! *sigh*
congrats on your walking regimen! let us know how that goes, as i’m sure a few of us (myself included) could use some inspiration to get healthy! 😀
New start . . . old stuff . . .
We’ve been in this house for five years. There are still unpacked boxes in the corner of my living room.
ha! well, now i don’t feel so bad, Sarah W. – i’ve pretty much hidden all my unpacked boxes in my closets and bedroom! actually, no. looking around, i actually do have a couple boxes hidden around my living room, too. *sob*
Since you already did a “Tetris” video game reference, perhaps it’s time for a “Shove It” video game reference.
Also, I noticed you drew a skull on one of the boxes. Nice touch. This reminds me of the time I had a t-shirt made that had a skull with two bones laying parallel to each other underneath. To my chagrin, very few people got the visual joke behind it. This made me wonder if I made the joke too obscure. Do you think you’d have gotten this joke?
That’s not just a skull, it’s a Cthulu skull!
you got it, 52pickup! 🙂
heheh. if only i had the muscles like the “Shove It” guy to move around all my boxes like that, Rainey! (actually, my sister, Linda/Xinda, gave me these “slider discs” that you put under furniture and boxes, which decreases friction and lets you slide your stuff over carpeted floors. they’ve actually come in quite handy.)
and i didn’t get the joke behind your skull t-shirt. can you explain? maybe if i saw it drawn out?
Can anyone say “box forts”?
Get well soon sir.
bot could have an epic game of box forts, 52pickup! i wonder if the Cornfather would be down to play? hmmm…
Hopefully you’ll rediscover a lost gem! Or at least be unpacked before your new lease is up…
ha! we’ll see, FunnyShaffer.
Months long camping trip? Wow! I like nature, I have spent a lot of time out in it just sitting around staring. But the longest I ever camped was a week and I started hearing video game music near the end. How is he keeping sane that long?
i’m with you, Zolen: i like camping, but can only do it for so long before i hear the call of technology and civilization. my dad must be the exact opposite. although, he does have a trailer (with many amenities), a truck and a boat, so he’s not exactly Grizzly Adams out there. 🙂
Bot’s right. It is a clean slate… just with carryover 😉
heheh. right. a clean-“ish” slate’s more accurate, Soul Man.
Some of my stuff is still in boxes back at my parents house from when I moved home for the summer last april. now I’ll be staying out here but we’ll be moving in july, I’m not looking forward to it.
keep that stuff at your parents’ for as long as they’ll let you, dj! once that stuff gets combined with your regular stuff, you’re in a whole heap of trouble. :-/
Oh dear…yeah, this looks familiar. I got lucky one time when I moved in and had three people helping me get settled. My cubes got put together for my stuff, my bed was set up, and my computer was on my desk, all in the space of less than an hour. The rest of the stuff was strewn every which way, but at least I could get a good night’s sleep.
Speaking of which! *stern look* Being sick sucks; don’t be hard on your body and make it last longer! I recommend lots of liquids and sleep, and vitamin C. At least you don’t have the vitamin D deficency we always deal with here in Alaska…so there’s that going for you. 😉 Feel better, sweetie!
that’s great that you were able to make your way to your bed and get the rest of your important stuff set up, Tiana. if bot can even find his way to the bedroom, it’ll be a miracle. heheh.
and, yeah: being sick sucks. it’s been a while since i’ve been sick so it’s kinda fun experiencing it again, but that gets old real quick. was able to get a decent night’s sleep last night, so i feel i’m on the road to recovery, now. and: yikes! sorry that you alaskans have to deal with vitamin D deficiencies up there. here in sunny SoCal, it’s kinda rare. although many of us nerds like to keep our skin pale by staying indoors, so i guess it’s always a possibility! 😉
Just wanted to say… I know the feeling bro. The hardest part in starting a new chapter in your life is letting go of the old one
ah, so true, Jiro. and if bot’s anything like me (which he is) he definitely has a hard time letting go of the past!
Is that little guy on Bot’s keychain a Gengar? Looks like it! (: And Bot is slightly doomed but I’m sure he’ll miraculously make it out, all the good guys do. Oh!! And I love the new banner, I think the different (pixels?) look so cool. (:
ish a gengar 😛
😀
yep, it’s a gengar, Nat! i’ve had that thing on my keychain for i don’t know how long. the purple on him has rubbed off a lot, but he’s still hanging on, so i’m not ready to retire him just yet. i used to have a psyduck on there, too, but sadly, he hopped off the chain for some other adventure.
thanks! glad you like the banner!
Really? I don’t think I’ve ever seen him! You have to show me next time. (:
HAH! Gengar Keychain! Lulz! Hmmm…you could TOTALLY rearrange the boxes into room dividers!
i tried that once, KB, but the boxes have a tendency to start sagging after a while, and there’s nothing more disconcerting than feeling like the walls are (literally!) closing in on you! 🙂
and, yep: Gengar!
That’s when you get rubbermaid containers. Last rather longer than cardboard boxes. And the sturdier, the better. Of course, in Botland, where scarves can control people, I don’t see an issue with something far-fetched, like portable holes being used.
The last couple of moves we went through, we ended up with a room full of partially unpacked crap that we didn’t have a place for but didn’t want to throw away. This time though… This time, we did something about it!
We consolidated it and stuffed it in a storage closet. (Of course, now that I have a working SNES again, I can’t find my games.)
yeah, i definitely need one of those storage closets, E. A. Setser – but i don’t have the room to put it anywhere! thought about renting a storage space, but they’re so expensive, i might as well just rent a 2-bedroom apartment and put my stuff in the extra room! and then i’d just feel guilty about spending the extra cash. (AND i’d fear losing access to cool stuff like my SNES games, too. heheh.)
i feel like putting stuff away is the easier part (again those organizing skills o>O)
Jefbot’s stuff is propagating.
