Just a quick update on my Seattle weekend. In short: it was AWWWWEEEEsome! Yeah. That pretty much sums it up.
I’ll give a full debrief on what went down here after I get back to L.A. but I wanted to thank all the BOTrockin’ peeps who dropped by the BOTbooth, all the non-readers who gave JEFbot a try or grabbed a postcard, and the Emerald City Comicon itself for giving me such a great location and providing such a special venue for all of us writers, illustrators, readers and fans. (Also, special thanks to Joe, Tiana and Kris – I couldn’t have done this con without you!)
So, after some much needed sleep, it looks like I’ll be getting out of Seattle this afternoon to begin the long trek back to L.A.. I’ll probably stop in Portland again tonight and then we’ll see how far I get tomorrow. With any luck, I’ll be home on Wednesday, drawing on Thursday, and posting a new comic on Friday. Thanks, y’all, for your patience! I’ll see you soon.
Also: Happy Birthday, MOMBOT! We’ll celebrate this weekend. 😀 😀 😀
Double the size, double the awesome. It was a great Con this year!
i second this! ECCC’s the con i look forward to the most each year and this one did not disappoint. thanks for coming by the BOTbooth, dude!
Nice seeing you again, Jeff! Thanks fer signin’ my artbook!
good seeing you, too, dude. and thanks for signing mine!
You and Tiana got to meet! That is so fantastic! She gave you my hugs and kisses right? Can’t wait to hear alllll about the adventure. Getting my tour guide speech ready for the NEWBots.
We can’t be sure that this Tiana is the same one that’s been commenting. I know of several women with that name. Oddly enough, one of them is also a redhead. That being said, I did meet a redhead with a ponytail in my Best Western hotel (that I was staying at). I was on the second floor standing at the snack machine. She asked me if I was there for the Comicon. When I was surprised that she asked me, she told me she was clued in by the shirt I was wearing at that time. (a sweater saying “Think outside the quadrilateral parallelogram). Hmmm…
uhhh She’s my facebook friend and posted pics…preeeeeeetty sure.
yep, it was the official Tiana we all know and love. 🙂
yep! Tiana was invaluable in keeping the BOTbooth running smoothly on saturday and she gave me your Xs and Os, Pixie!
My time in Seattle was a blast. The Comicon itself was a blast (though much more crowded than anything I was at on the East Coast). I had to stand in line for nearly an hour but it was well worth it. I also got on the Space Needle and toured the Experience Music Project Museum and the glass garden nearby. There was also something to be said for touring the city itself, jogging through the park near my hotel and the photo ops. It’s unlikely I’ll be attending this convention next year (plane tickets are expensive) but if I do, there’ll be plenty for me to do in Seattle that I didn’t get to do this time (due to budget constraints). Also, thanks to Psynapse for the helpful information about the “tourist traps” in the Seattle area. Psynapse, if you’re reading this, would you be traveling near York, Pa. anytime soon?
ya know, it’s my 3rd time in seattle doing this con, Rainey, and i still haven’t been to the Space Needle! ah, well. maybe someday i’ll get there a day early or stay a day later and actually get to tour the city beyond the convention hall. 🙂
happy you had a blast at the con! (but bummed you might not make it back next year.)
It was so cool to meet you, Jeff! Sorry if I was a tad too excited. You were super awesome though!
was fun meeting you, too, Takla! and thanks for your enthusiasm – your excitement is what makes these cons AWESOME!
Glad it worked out for you.
thanks, Maryz!
I hate that I missed you again! Next year, hopefully!
yes!
