As an addendum to today’s strip: I’m not saying it was intentional, but did anyone else find some of the ads featuring The Joker for The Dark Knight, eerily similar to the imagery from the The Crow movie? You’d think Warner Bros. wouldn’t want to evoke another film whose on-the-rise, young actor died during production, but every time I’d see Heath Ledger as The Joker on a billboard, especially the ads that looked bleak and desaturated, I couldn’t help but think of Brandon Lee.
A guest strip I did for nemu*nemu, an extremely cute webcomic about two girls and their magical stuffed-animal puppies, is up today at www.nemu-nemu.com!
The webcomic has been a favorite of mine for the past year or so, because of the high quality of the strip and my love for pretty much all cute, small animals and Asian pocket-monster type things (I should really give jefbot one of his own), so I jumped at the chance to do a guest strip. Also, the team behind the webcomic, Kyubikitsy (aka Audra Furuichi) and KimonoStereo (aka Scott Yoshinaga), are based in Hawaii which has a special place in my heart since my mom (mombot!) grew up there.
Check it out! The adventures of the two girls (Kana & Anise) and their pups (Nemu & Anpan) are fun, and the manga style art is truly great.
If you found your way here from the nemu*nemu site, welcome! Browse the archives, kick off your shoes, and make yourself at home.
I took the New Readers page down for maintenance a few months back and haven’t had a chance to update it and get it back up until now. So, besides the summary of what this strip is about and cast bios, some new stuff you’ll find includes links to some favorite JEFbot storylines and a place to put my guest strips for now. To check it out, click the “New Readers” button at the top of the page or click here.
Now I just gotta that “Links” page back up.
Just wanted to thank a few more websites for mentioning JEFbot in their pages over the past few months. JEFbot has been growing at an exponential rate since I first started writing and drawing it a little over a year ago, and a lot of that is due to people passing the word about this strip around! I always love when someone tells me they found their way here by reading about it on a website, or from seeing a JEFbot t-shirt out in the wild, or just plain ol’ word of mouth. So a big thank-you to everybody who has been championing this site, including:
• BlueBlood.net – for the great write-up and featuring of my Blue Elmo strip!
• ArtPatient.com – for such a great review and flattering article on what he learned reading JEFbot.
• Grinningskull.com – for spewing coffee out of his nose
• Ominous Knife – for asking readers what they would do in this predicament?
• dky bar and grill – for listing me in the comics she’s been reading and featuring my GTA IV strip.
If you’ve seen any other fans out there promoting JEFbot (especially if you’re one of them), please let me know!
Here’s a pic from the set of, WTFWT?!, a webseries I was lucky enough to act in a few weeks back, which was the basis for JEFbot’s “The Short” story arc, which can be found here: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05. The pilot’s being edited at the moment and should be ready for viewing soon.
The amazing group of talent seen above includes (from left-right/up-down, more or less): Pam Cook, Rob Smith, Ted Sawyer, Scott Walker Mullin, Lacy Thomas, Ric Barbera, Matthew Shaffer, Mark Kelly, Mark Reilly, Ryan Styles, Kristina Hayes, Michael Cornacchia (who also created and produced the project), Ali Wiener-Dallas and me, Jeff Schuetze.
