Well it was fun while it lasted, but now that the Cornfather has pulled the plug on cel and bot’s (almost) perfect make out location, what’s a couple love-nerds supposed to do? Find another video game hovel or get back to work?
Moment ruined.
What happens in the arcade stays on youtube. Damn camera phones. *shakes fist*
Still, they’ve given hope to the younglings that geek love is not a myth ^_^
ha! yeah, these kids can capture the mythical “geek love” but where are they when the yetis, nessies and UFOs show up, AdM? i need to see definitive proof of those things on YouTube.
and thanks! glad you liked cel ‘n bot’s disheveled looks after their brief moment together. hopefully, they’ll make more time for each other soon. 🙂
Angela della Muerta and Maryz are right, acolyte – i’ve totally left Mu’s fate unresolved and am evil that way. i was hoping to get to that storyline before the end of the year but it looks like it may get pushed to early 2011. that one’s gonna be pretty exciting and much different than previous strips, so i can’t wait to start sharing that with you guys.
Love the name of this strip; that’s sure how I feel when a good necking session gets interrupted by reality! Great expressions in this one.
Camera phones…they are a curse. One of the extras in the Drew Barrymore movie got himself torn a new asshole and kicked off set for daring to take pictures secretly of the star herself with his iPhone. And then all the rest of us had to surrender our phones for the rest of the day, even when we were in holding away from the set. Had I been able to find that guy afterward…*shakes fist*
Eh, I don’t think they’ll care much; they didn’t have us sign a secrecy document or anything like that, so we’re not legally bound to not talk about things. *snerk* Though I think I’ll save my long ‘my life as an extra’ Facebook post until I’m completely done with the movie….just to be safe.
heheh. me too, Sarah W. seems a little overboard, right? maybe the Star Wars theme music that jefbot activated in the previous strip was a little too loud for the Cornfather to be easily heard? or maybe he was just being dramatic. probably the latter. 😉
Get back to work!!! I’m completely with Michael in this one. I’ll just throw the bleach on Jef and Cel to kill all the traces of the nasty!!
*evil laugh of doom*
I just love the first panel. Very wise words!
Love-nerds. Meh. Love is kind of poisonous, with being all over sugary (and if you got diabetes you know how well that goes with sugar!!!).
*ta-ta for now*
*got to see if I can get away with using one of my victorian goth skirts at work*
*evil laugh of doom*
Don’t throw bleach on them! *horrified gape* It might get inside the workings of the game & that’d be terrible!… What? Oh, oh yeah & there might be possible trips to hospital with bleach burns & skin irritation, blahblahblah.
I disagree! Love isn’t poisonous & sugary *rolls eyes* It’s more like honey. You know; if you have have too much it feels all sticky & slimy down your throat, making you feel a bit sick.
Victorian goth skirts are awesome! Best of luck with that! ^_^
good point, AdM – that Star Wars cabinet is probably vintage, with its original paint and stickers, so bleach would most definitely be a bad thing to throw on it. (oh, and probably bad to throw on cel ‘n bot for the reasons you cited, too.) 🙂
ha! i think nerd cooties are pretty resistant to chemicals, Sonitan – even bleach! i think you’d need like, radiation from Kryptonite or something to get “the nasty” off of those two at this point. 😉
and i hope you let us know if you were successful in using your goth skirt at work! 🙂
ahhh… so happy you and AdM concur on IV-VI being the only Star Wars films worth bothering with. while watching IV, V and VI would indeed be a perfect date, I, II and III would be an absolute nightmare of a romantic evening.
Figures. Today’s teenagers see two people making out in an arcade game and pull out their camera-phones.
How many Youtube accounts will upload a new makeout vid today? I see at least two camera-phones.
and that girl behind the short kid with the “ghost” shirt has one too, rinthia, but it’s blocked from view by the arcade cabinet. 🙂 someone needs to confiscate those phones!
Cornfather: STOP RIGHT THERE… before you go any further…
(OK, I really need to see if we have Meatloaf in the 18.5 days worth of music that is our iTunes)
Too funny. I love how cel’s hair is all messed up in the middle panel. And can I tell you how much I love the geeks you drew. They make me totally happy.
Darn, no Meatloaf. I must have that on cassette instead of CD. I have an AWESOME cassette collection. I should really try to convert some of that stuff to digital so I can listen to it again.
Yes, as Jeff so generously pointed out on Tuesday’s comments, I’m old enough to know Meatloaf and thus have lots of cassettes, too. I never had an 8-track player though, so at least I’m younger than dirt! (Apologies to anyone who *is* old enough to have 8-tracks. And I didn’t miss them by much.) 😛
Ah, cassettes. From what I remember of cassettes, they were superior to CD in that they didn’t get scratched. No, instead, the buggering things got chewed up, unravelled, tangled up, snapped, burned, melted…
¬_¬ I do not miss cassettes.
Will you lot quit going on about feeling old! You’re only as old as you feel, people!
For instance; I’m 22 but I feel like I should be a 30-something mother of youngish kids (my friend says I wont be a MILF, I’ll be a “Yummy Mummy” because I’m too classy).
Of course, sometimes I feel like a grouchy old woman who shakes her fist & says “damn kids” a lot… at those times, I want to get a porch, a rocking chair, a shotgun & a glaring of cats then say “get off my land!” while pointing the shotgun at visitors.
I’m nice like that. ^_^
Anyway…
You’re only young once but you can be immature forever. ^_^
Yea, I’m a pretty weird mix of feeling old and young. I have a streak of purple hair that makes me feel younger (although I wouldn’t have had the guts to do it when I really WAS young). And in my head I still feel young, but having kids does a lot to make you (or me at least) feel older. You can’t just do what you want anymore and everyone else be damned. The responsibility is the biggest drawback of kids. Otherwise they are pretty awesome.
i agree with AdM – you’re only as old as you feel! i’m a total “Toys R Us” kid and plan to stay that way for a lOOOooong time! (do you have Toys R Us stores in the UK, AdM? and if so, did you get the “Toys R Us kid” ad campaign? if not, i’ll explain.) of course, i don’t have kids, so i’ll have to check back with you guys if that ever happens to me. just hanging for a couple hours with my friends’ kids completely wears me out. 🙂
basically, the campaign made it okay for people of any age to shop at Toys R Us. was pretty popular here in the U.S. – let’s see if i can find a link on YouTube… yep, here it is.
i don’t even have my cassette deck plugged into my receiver anymore, Tiana. 🙁 but it served me well for a long time. starting to phase out my CDs now, too, actually. when i do buy one, i normally rip ’em to my computer so i can feed the songs to my iPod.
i never amassed much of a cassette collection ‘cuz i preferred vinyl, shanna, even with all the record maintenance, clicks and pops one has to deal with in that medium. i’d generally buy the record, then record it to a blank cassette so i could listen to it on my walkman or stereo. then, when i’d wear the cassette out, or it got (as AdM mentioned) chewed up, unravelled, tangled, etc., i’d just record a new one from the vinyl. was awesome. 🙂
i most definitely have the Bat Out of Hell CD ripped to my iTunes library, shanna. was actually listening to it while i was drawing much of the previous strip, cuz it just seemed the right thing to do. 🙂
I had 8 tracks…Well no I didn’t, My Mumsy did. I was just a wee whisp of a girl but I really do feel old some times. And being on the wrong side of 30 doesn;t always help.
On the flip side, I have so many friends who are younger and keep me young. And I;m fabulous, so that helps a lot. *wink* Don’t dream it, be it!
I have Bat out of Hell and Bat out of Hell 2: Back into Hell on CD. Had the first one on cassette.
I’d say hilarious…. however, it’s a sad reality! There is no more romance- just YouTube and Twitter!!! Excellent strip today! Now, if you’ll excuse me- I have to upload some crazy footage I shot at Joan’s on Third yesterday…
yep, seems people want to live vicariously through YouTube and Twitter more than ever, these days, Funnyshaffer! that said, i can’t wait to see your footage. heheh.
you’re absolutely right, Bl4ckw0lf: the Cornfather’s totally out of uniform! i was gonna fix that this weekend, but ran out of time. should be fixed sometime this week, though. thanks for the catch! 🙂
HEE! The Cornfather as the Defender of Public Decency. Perfect!
I thinks that ‘Bot and Cel should work till closing, the tension of desire steadily mounting, and the moment the doors close… Midnight? 2AM? Depends on the city, really… they should fall upon each other like crazed voles.
( I think I might be projecting a boyhood memory… yes I married a nerd. It’s OK, I’m a geek. )
As for the ongoing Meat Loaf thread… try this. My sister in law and her husband had “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” for their Spotlight Dance AT THEIR WEDDING. OMG… WTF???? And I thank god I missed 8-tracks, but I was around when they were the s**t.
But seriously, PDA are not what they used to be in the age of ubiquitous camera-phones. And your parents WILL see that s**t, even my MOTHER IN LAW is on facebook… *cringe*
yes! maybe ‘cuz the Cornfather works at those kid parties he feels he’s the “Defender of Public Decency” for those children at the arcade, SamuraiArtGuy? whatever the reason, it’s probably a good idea that he broke up cel ‘n bot’s kissing session before the crazy vole action started in that Star Wars cabinet. 😉
and congrats on marrying a geek! always happy to hear about nerd/geek pairings that’ve worked out. that’s awesome!
i never had an 8-track player myself, but i do remember my parents’ old van had an 8-track player installed, with the tapes of The Main Event, The Best of Ray Stevens, German Beer Drinking Music and Grease in constant rotation. ah, good times.
so happy that most of my family is not on Facebook. 🙂
This reminds me of a storyline from Doc’s Machine. In which Doc smashes several peoples cell phones that have bad photos of one of his frenemies on it. Twisted, but funny. points for the bed-heads.
Ha! Very funny, bot. I like how the strip is getting a little R rated. 😉 It’s time to push the boundaries, huh. Seriously, I love this strip. I especially love the dude filming jefbot and cel on his cell phone. Great work…as usual.
whatever was happening in that cabinet was only R-rated in your mind, MC, since we didn’t actually see what was recorded. heheh. that said, if anything R-rated did go down, cel and bot better figure out a way to round up those cellphones, pronto! 😉
*chuckles* You’ve just reminded me of a clip from The I.T. Crowd – “Do not type ‘Google’ into Google or you WILL break the internet. Don’t try it, not even for a joke.” ^_^
Wow…ok the full moon tried to kill me this weekend.
OMG I love the details in panel two. Cel’s errant strand of hair, Jeff’s totally dopey look of sheer and utter glee. Amazing.
*whispers in her best wild life host voice* And if you look closely, you will see the geek boy and the elusive geek girl initating mating rituals….
I wonder if the video will be all grainy and out of focus like pics of Nessie, Big Foot and the elusive Skunk Ape (google THAT one kiddies)
Just one more weekend of of not being here for Fridays, then I’m here for a week, then Off to St. Augustine the weekend of 11/12-14th for the whole Nun for the Road gig.
Heh, reminds me of “Oh hey, making out in the band storage room is totally a good idea.”
Yeah, until you have to come out and a group of people are sitting there staring at you…
^_^
uh-oh. does this mean you’re making a run at your record, AdM?
second pair in a row! 😎
Maaaaaybe… ^_^
Bring on the competition!
*stereotypical football hooligan chant* Come an’ ‘ave a go if you think yer ‘ard enough! :p
Im taking you on.
Cool ^_^
Good luck, Maryz ^_^
looks like it’s on! 😀
Moment ruined.
What happens in the arcade stays on youtube. Damn camera phones. *shakes fist*
Still, they’ve given hope to the younglings that geek love is not a myth ^_^
Loving the dishevelled state of cel & jefbot ^_^
ha! yeah, these kids can capture the mythical “geek love” but where are they when the yetis, nessies and UFOs show up, AdM? i need to see definitive proof of those things on YouTube.
and thanks! glad you liked cel ‘n bot’s disheveled looks after their brief moment together. hopefully, they’ll make more time for each other soon. 🙂
As Robin Williams stated ” We no longer have to worry about big brother because now we have little snitch.”
best expression on CF’s face 2n’d panel.
thanks, acolyte! his expression’s supposed to be a mixture of weariness and parental disappointment. the Cornfather’s a good actor. heheh.
umm, having read back through several older strips…
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MUSASHI? and what’s w/ him and cel?
He’s left us hanging on that one for a while… *chuckles* And people think -I’m- a tease! ^_^
Jefbot is evil that way.
Angela della Muerta and Maryz are right, acolyte – i’ve totally left Mu’s fate unresolved and am evil that way. i was hoping to get to that storyline before the end of the year but it looks like it may get pushed to early 2011. that one’s gonna be pretty exciting and much different than previous strips, so i can’t wait to start sharing that with you guys.

indeed.

thanks, Tiana! glad you liked the title and artwork.
ooh, nice to get a set report! hope you don’t get in trouble if they find out you’re giving us the inside scoop here. 😉
If you want to stay, you must “continue the game” in the machine. Please insert coin. 😀
That post seemed to be just geeky euphemisms :p
yes, even cel and jefbot’s “show” is worth at least a quarter or two, ContableEnorme! heheh. and AdM does have a point. 😀
I love disheveled Cel and bot in the second panel! Cel seems pleased with the results of her move.
thanks, Maryz! yes, cel does seem pretty pleased, doesn’t she? good sign for jefbot… 🙂
I love that the Cornfather unplugged the machine to get their attention. It just tickles me for some reason.
heheh. me too, Sarah W. seems a little overboard, right? maybe the Star Wars theme music that jefbot activated in the previous strip was a little too loud for the Cornfather to be easily heard? or maybe he was just being dramatic. probably the latter. 😉

go home, put in the the first 3 star wars and chill on the couch…perfect date!
If, by first 3, you mean 4-6; I agree. ^_^
that’s all there are….new hope,empire and jedi.end of story!
I can see that you’re a being after my own heart… well you can’t have it! I’m using it! :p
^_^
ahhh… so happy you and AdM concur on IV-VI being the only Star Wars films worth bothering with. while watching IV, V and VI would indeed be a perfect date, I, II and III would be an absolute nightmare of a romantic evening.
See? You guys really are my people.
*Pixie Geek Cuddles for all!*
Yay for Pixie Geek Cuddles! ^_^
That’s……kinda creepy.
damn kids!
Oh..My…Corn(blocker?)
ha! yes, both for bot and those pervy kids, o0Edit0o!
Figures. Today’s teenagers see two people making out in an arcade game and pull out their camera-phones.

looks like im not the only perv around
true dat, JF#300! 😀
Only cause I’m a Provert. Yeah you read that right, I’m a pro baybee!
well at the very least they have increased the popularity of the arcade
HA! great way to look at it, Drakeye. maybe cel ‘n bot should put on weekly shows? 😉
This reminds me of a storyline from Doc’s Machine. In which Doc smashes several peoples cell phones that have bad photos of one of his frenemies on it. Twisted, but funny. points for the bed-heads.
maybe if cel gives the Cornfather another pretzel, he’ll go all “Hulk Smash!” on those kids’ cell phones, Anime fan. 🙂
glad you liked the “bed heads”!

or just write a virus on youtube that erases all mention of Starwars game making out or caught on cam………Wait wouldn’t that crash youtube?/
*chuckles* You’ve just reminded me of a clip from The I.T. Crowd – “Do not type ‘Google’ into Google or you WILL break the internet. Don’t try it, not even for a joke.” ^_^
done that dosen`t hurt
