Congratulations to the WGA! It’s about time you were all properly compensated.
So on this JEFBOT I spent way more time on the background than I have for any other strip thus far. Makes sense since in most of my strips, the punchline is usually tied up in what the characters say or do, and the background is usually pretty ancillary. In this strip however, the background is the punchline, so I had to make sure I got it right, which meant hours of drawing DVD cases, video game consoles and electronic components. Hope you approve.

This needs to be on the Sistine Chapel! Truly another masterpiece, Jefbot. It is so simple and yet so complex. Your attention to detail is nothing short of brilliant. I swear, at certain glances, I thought I was looking at a photographed background. The dialogue and characters compliment the exquisite background to comedic perfection. My only criticism is that it’s…TRUE!!!! It sucks when you’re home all day looking for the on/off switch.
What’s left to say? I agree w/Michael, from the art to the dialogue, it’s Great! Love the whole thing!
agreed. see above. hahahahaha. genius in the details, gotta love the old school nintendo!!! Briliant. I didnt have ANY tv for 10months and morphed into a different (and highly disturbed) person. hahaa. thank God for Buffy! Now give the writiers their due!!!!!!
Great Job. you were always great at drawing the small stuff.
Incredible detail, Jeff!! Excellent work!
Very well done. And:
Akiirraaaaaaa!
yes, your place is such the barren wasteland of fun! haha wow, really nice. It’s creepy how that looks EXACTLY like your living room…even down to the entertainment center. Gorgeous!
Awesome job! By far my favorite!!! Beside the fact that I’m grateful the strike has ended, I think it’s brilliant that Mike is complaining with all of the DVDs, huge TV and game boxes in the shot… Finally let me add that this strip has the best detail I’ve seen! I LOVE it Jefbot!!!!!
Brilliant…simply BRILLIANT!
where’s the dreamcast?
i love the details too. i just don’t believe that your apartment is that clean….. i want to see real pictures of the real thing. better yet i’ll be over there this weekend to check it out… love you lots
writiers…?
Holy #!!#@!!? (moly). That background is crazy cool. And yes, it really does resemble the real deal.
Gorgeous!
wow, thanks for the detailed comment, michael. i always look forward to your take on the strip.
jAnonymous, glad you agree with michael!
akira, you caught the nes, huh? i should’ve drawn the buffy box set somewhere in there.
mary, thanks!
matthew, heheh. the anime fan in me and my niece thank you for that.
john, thanks, dude. yep, it’s pretty darn close!
funnyshaffer, glad it’s your favorite! funny, when i convert the art for these strips to jpegs, a lot of the detail gets lost (due to resolution and compression issues). someday when i print these strips, i think a lot more of the detail will pop!
jeff payton, thanks, dude!
fig, heheh. in my closet with the gamecube, xbox, snes, genesis, neo geo, master system, etc… but that’s for another strip.
unfavorite, it really is that clean (well, almost)! we have a maid that’s really good.
anonymous, uh-huh.
mitch, the only thing missing are the rock band peripherals – which you must come over and sample, soon!
bon, arigato!
I approve very much, good Sir.
Your work is smart, funny and Beautiful!!
I forgot to add my name on that last comment
I wonder if there are any other geeks out there that said “Oh my god. That’s a Moxi box.”
That was seriously the first thing I identified in the last panel.
Oh so random, but I spot a Fullmetal Alchemist collector’s tin 😛
Your attention to detail is amazing, and your skills make me jealous.
I know this is an old comic, but I couldn’t resist a comment :]
This might be my favorite one.
maybe you could EXCERCISE!!
