It’s probably too late now, but if you haven’t read the previous strip, I suggest clicking here to do so before reading this one.
So this strip marks the end of the Popbot mini-arc, although I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of jefbot’s dad’s creations in the future. I’m delighted and impressed with all the stories about your own fathers you guys have been sending in during this run. If you have more, keep ’em coming! Knowing other dads have created way crazier stuff than a toy that electrocutes people comforts me.
The Cornfather is a glutton for punishment, huh, bot? Hahahahaha! This is a very funny strip, man. Aside from the humor; the design, colors, facial expressions, and not to mention the Cornfather’s skeleton in the 3rd panel are out of this INTERNET. Your strip is so much more than just a webcomic, bot. Twice a week you send out gorgeous WORKS OF ART. 😀
thanks, MC! can i just pay you for your comments in cash or will you accept gift certificates?
Bwuahahahahahahahahahahaaaa!!!
I “knew” Michael was “hired” to comment XD
heh. lol da cornfather’s face in the 2nd panel is way 2 funny! reminds me off the time at my granny’s place when i bet my cousin brother to walk from one end of the roof to the other (gran’s roof is made up of tin sheets. so its not as easy as it sounds) and he actually did it…he was hooting n hoppin right up to the moment when the roof caved in (he did’nt die though. he got stuck n was up there for 2 hours until my dad and uncle figured out how to get him down….
this is stil too awesome. i only wish i’d found out about jefbot sooner…
ha! i’m extremely glad that story didn’t end on a sad note, faehiir, although i’m sure your dad and uncle couldn’t have been too happy about that hole in the roof. 🙂
thanks, i’m happy you found us!
I love that first panel! I dunno why, it’s just so well done and I love the effects and coloring. CF looks absolutely adorable, and so proud of himself in the next panel. Add some ears, whiskers, and a tail and he could be a cute kitty! I just feel bad that he got zapped so bad again, even with finishing correctly. Again, Popbot steals the strip with his adorableness though! So yeah.. this strip=adorable. 😀
PS: Love the Christmas ornament in the header now! I hope you’ll bring back Turkeybot next year. 😀
i think you’re the first to mention the ornament, Spanky! was starting to think people’s caches weren’t updating. and yep, most likely Turkeybot will be back next year. 😀
i kept messing around with that first panel so i’m glad you liked how it turned out, Spanky. and yeah, the Cornfather is kinda “cute kitty” in that 2nd panel. all the more painful to see him get shocked in the 3rd. heheh. i’m happy you dig all the “adorableness” going on!
Awesome man, just awesome. Finally got a chance to have a look at ‘What The F*@k Was That’ (Troo jeanyus!) and am left wondering if Michael has ever been confused with Jonathan Winters?
thanks for checking that out, man! and yes, Michael’s always getting Jonathan Winters, but also Dom Deluise and Richard Kine. he doesn’t really get that now, however – he’s lost 75 lbs since that video was shot over a year ago! 😯
But…. Dom DeLuise is dead. (What a loss!)
And also was very old before he died, so how would people ….?
I’m confused.
Victory does not resound within that one, does it? XD Poor cornfather. PopBot gave him the short end of the stick again
Don’t forget to Change profile pictures to Pokemon for Pokémon December
is Pokémon December a thing? how come i didn’t know about this!? i might just have to swap out the “O” ornament in the banner with a pokéball, if so.
Apparently there is. I didn’t know about it til someone invited me to the event page on facebook. But I am fully okay with that. n.n
heheh. nope. any victory the Cornfather may have assumed between panels two and three should be considered hollow. 🙂
Oh, just from rading this I felt how it hurts. So green light is to give victim false sense of security? Thats low, Popbot, very low. Still, funny as hell.
yeah, that green light really just signals that you’re about to get shocked, Maryz. same as the red. heheh.
This strip really had me laughing. It’s even funnier than part one! I would love to meet PopBot. He seems like way too much fun. First to make a toy like that, then to stand there and “Heh heh” when the Cornfather gets zapped to the floor a second time. Priceless!
And yea, the art in this one rocks. The expressions and the light are brilliant. 😀
the real Popbot might even have a bigger reaction than that, Shanna! he loves slapstick humor and really loved that toy so i can only imagine what would happen if the Cornfather really shocked himself like that. hmm, there’s only one way to find out… 😉
also just wanted to say amazing job on that crocheted Mu! i’ll have a blog post with pics sometime next week so everyone can see it!!! 😀
Don’t celebrate too soon Cornfather!!! Excellent glow effect Jefbot! …and I just love the look on your dads face in the last frame. Rock on!
thanks, man! the Cornfather should have known that when you’re dealing with the Schuetzes, you always have to be on your guard. 😉
I LOVE the Cornfather’s expression in the second panel. It’s darling! And, Spanky, is right. The Christmas header is AWESOME!
thanks, Annie! i normally string lights up on the header but just haven’t had time to put them up this year. maybe this weekend. 🙂
Other dads may have created items crazier than a maze that electrocutes people, but have those dads also made a smokehouse contraption, a wooden trailer that’s 4 ft high to haul behind a jeep and sleep in at the lake, or a full-size teepee (or was it a native American hothouse)…or fixed a rice cooker’s lid handle by attaching a nut, a bolt and a washer…or replaced the broken green glass lamp shade from a banker’s lamp with an industrial strength, sheet metal lamp shade?!?!?! I think not. Popbot is FORGE!!!!
at least a couple of those things you mention will make appearances at some point in the strip, Sean Luke!
Yeowch!!! Even when you *win* you lose! I *definitely* will avoid playing that game if I ever meet up with Popbot!
heh. although i was joking about bringing “ol’ sparky” to conventions, it seems i’m going to have to now, reynard61. maybe i’ll ask my dad to make one with a lower voltage.
I love how when we first see the Cornfather in the 2nd panel he is already charred from unsuccessful attempts.
yep, no telling just how many times he’s played that game, JM. 🙂
I have a feeling there are no winners in PopBot’s game
the winner is you, JK. 😉
hahaha CF!
hahahahah!
ha!
heeheeheeheheh!
O_o
Ooooooooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
It’s a proven fact. Michael is a devoted masochist!!!!
*evil laugh of doom*
We need to see more of the things that Popbot come up with to torture unsuspected victims!!!!
*Bwuahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!*
yay! evil laugh of doom!!! heheh.
oh, and while Popbot doesn’t have any more torture devices he does have some other contraptions that we’ll be seeing in future strips, Sonitan. 😀
Ha! The electrification of the cornfather is priceless. (i’m only a little sadistic). But the expression on his face rules. You can almost replace the scream with khaaaaaannn!!!
ha! i think we should all go a little Shatner when electrocuted, epikto. 🙂
wow…..CF looks so cute….start making those plushies…….been so long since i can read JB……sigh…my office’s internet connection is just so dumb…………arghhhhhhhhhhhhh……….l0ove the strips………….damn keyboard…………
(rage is all i have at the office)
was wondering where you’ve been off to, JF3! glad you could rejoin us. and i hope your rage doesn’t spill over to your workmates at the office. heheh.
if the Cornfather ever gets turned into a plush, i’ll model it after that second panel – charred, electric-burns and all. 🙂
yes…thats the one that i truly love….CF with those googly eyes…almost innocent…..right until the zapping
This reminds me so much of the shocker pens that I see everywhere. My massochistic friend has one and he absolutely love to press it against his temples to get a headache. A habit I will never understand.
On annjother note Jeff, I’m that one kid who interviewed you. I aced the project thanks to that interview. Thank you so much! 😀
i would be wary of a friend that feels the need to give himself electroshock therapy, and with an electric pen no less, Mister Volcano. perhaps afraid, even.
hey! glad to hear your project went well! was wondering what happened with that. i’d love to read it. 😀
I feel the same way, I haven’t talked to him in a month(I wouldn’t have anyway if he wasn’t in Italy)
I’ll send the project to you when I can.
Hot damn look at that 3rd panel! Jeff, your coloring (not to mention you’re delicious art) never cease to amaze me. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
thanks for the love, Dave!!! 😀
Aw poor Corn Father, he looked so happy. xD
Looks like popbot is good at hurting other people when he makes things. Only person my dad hurts when he works on stuff is himself. Once when my dad was installing a light fixture on the ceiling at a friend’s house he accidentally drilled his own thumb to the ceiling and missed the light fixture completely. He’s lucky the nerves in his fingers were already damaged or that would have hurt real bad. I remember he had the calmest face when he was unscrewing it and as gross as it was I couldn’t look away.
