So it remains to be seen if jefbot can handle the task of rescuing this kitten. (But if he can’t, I say it’s time to hang up the costume and Scarf, take a nap, and maybe reconsider this whole Superhero business.)
Did you see the FANart of jefbot and the Angry Scarf reader Shanna “Aelyrin” Andress sent in? Awesome, right?
Kitty!
The classics always work best for heroing.
true that, Geoff! and kitty-saving’s always good for PR.
and, hey! check you out: you just achieved the Shades of Firsting! wear these to protect your eyes when you’re handling small bundles of fur with sharp claws:
😎
As I live in a house with two cats, these will come in TREMENDOUSLY handy!
sweet! 😀
Hey, a good deed is a good deed no matter how big or small!
yup, yup! and no doubt the child will think bot’s the greatest hero in the world if he gets the kitty down in one piece.
If it’s good enough for SPiderman, its good enough for Scarfbot.
you can be sure if jefbot sees a thief running by with a bag o’ cash, he’ll stop him, Maesonic! (or at least try to.)
Have you ever seen what a cat can do to a knitted item? I predict a snag in the proceedings . . .
Angry Scarf has met its kryptonite–Mister Fluffykins!
yes! my cats used to love string and fabrics of all kinds, Sarah W. let’s hope this kitten is too petrified to put up much of a fight with the Scarf. otherwise, yes, we might have a “kitten-ite” situation on our hands.
Cat + Ball of wool = Fun
Cat + Angry scarf = ?
Pissed off Sarfliens Id wager. Especialy if itll utilise claws.
Love the hoodie. The poor almost crying kid and the kitten (its just so adorable) have no idea what is in store for them. Dangerous thing is – Neither does Bot.
we’ll find out if bot’s successful with his first task as a superhero in friday’s strip, Maryz! and glad you like bot’s outfit and the situation that has unfolded. you’re right – this could be a dangerous situation. let’s hope bot escapes it unscathed. (and unscratched.)
HA! I can’t wait to see how this unfolds! Good Morning all. Remember, no good deed goes unpunished….protect the face!
morning, Pixie! yes – bot might want to pull down his goggles for this one. especially if that cute ball of fur turns into a ferocious ball of claws and teeth.
My prediction for how things will go: Jefbot whips the jacket off, revealing The Angry Scarf (possibly in a Dutch-angle panel with dramatic lighting). The child runs away in terror.
Also, I’m amazed the scarf is so inconspicuous under the jacket…I thought panel one made it look kinda lumpy.
i’m wondering if she’ll be the sort of kid to run screaming or stand watching in awe like the kid from the Incredibles (that was awwwesome!)
probably more the latter, deaconflac. and there’s always the possibility of indifference.
your prediction could be right, Joe! and, yeah – the Scarf started out as all lumpy, but tightened around bot’s body once he started walking. (basically, i thought it looked cooler more concealed. plus, there’s lots of room in that jacket, what with bot’s Power of Scrawn.) 🙂
cats and rolls of thread?
yep, it’s a bad mix, jf#300. let’s hope the kitten’s attack instincts don’t kick in when it sees the Scarf approaching.
*begin squeaky voice*Daaaaaw, look at the little demonic looking kitty. Isn’t it just the cutest thing you ever saw?*end squeaky voice* Yeah, Jefbot should definitely start with the small stuff first or he’ll end up with even more bruises than he already has.
heheh. yeah, it’s probably a good thing he took such a dive in the previous strip, Fijiman. imagine what would’ve happened had he been successful and then tried to stop an armed robbery or something?
Yay, Bot gets to save a kitty! I predict scratches in poor Bot’s future. And how is that sweet little girl going to react to an animate scarf? Not well, methinks! But this is the perfect task for him to cut his teeth (or the scarf’s?) on being a super hero, nonetheless. 😀
true that, shanna: a couple scratches would be much preferable to a couple bullet wounds. 🙂
OMG. I love it! I love the kiddie and the kitten in the final frame. Would you mind terribly if I posted this on Facebook (full credit to you, of course!)?
Thank you so much for my little LOL for the day, Jeff!
thank you for the LOL, LadyArtemis! and you can totally post this (or any other strip for that matter!) on FB whenever you’d like. it’s much appreciated!
Every hero must start somewhere……
yup. even if it means doing small (but heroic!) tasks for children, Soul Man.
Ah, the cat up a tree, the training ground for all budding superheros.
Whenever I see a mention of a cat up the tree I remember Superman the movie where Superman rescues the cat, give it to the girl and girl runs inside the house and says, “mommy, mommy, some man flew down and got scrappy out of the tree!” Then the mom says, “What have I told you about lying!” Followed by the sound of a slap (or butt hit, couldn’t really tell since it was all dialogue and seen from outside the house.)
I still laugh at the scene whenever I see it.
that’s an awesome (and tragic) scene, TPC! such a great movie, thanks for bringing it up. remains to be seen whether bot’s antics get the little girl in trouble, though. let’s hope – for both their sakes – that it all works out fine.
That little girl is my new favourite character. I love that her tights or socks match her jumper!
ha! well, i’m not sure she’ll be featured beyond the current strips, Cedric, but you never know!
Cat. I’m a kitty cat.
Good luck bot. 😛
and i dance, dance, dance. and i dance, dance, dance.
I love that video. So. AWESOME!
I just pray that the kittie is okay after the “rescue”.
Scared cat with claws + alien/scarf hybrid infused with the Rage of Xinda = Possible emotional scarring for the poor little girl.
there’s always a chance that this “rescue” could go horribly wrong, Maddgodd81 – especially considering bot’s history of things not quite going his way. but with a little luck, maybe the universe will give bot a break on this one!
guy’s gotta start somewhere right? Not all of us can start leaping tall buildings in a single bound after all.
absolutely, jiro! if bot was more powerful than a locomotive, we’d probably have higher expectations of him. 🙂
Watch out for cute kittens! Why? Read the Daily Dalek Cartoon for more information…(www.tonecartoons.co.uk/blog)
wow! i didn’t realize kittens were so dangerous, Kiki. bot best be careful!
Hey… if it’s good enough for a Firefighter… So funny! I love the look on your face in the last frame.
thanks, FunnyShaffer! hopefully, bot can handle this situation.
That cat wants out of that tree right meow
ROFL
ha! and: *groan*
(almost had the cat “mew” instead of “mrow,” dj. but then i’d be too tempted to have it say “mewtwo” in the next strip.) 😉
Love the look on bot’s face in the last panel. It’s almost as if he’s saying “This is it?” Or “C’mon, fate, you can do better than that.” Good work as always Jeff!
thanks, Striker! that’s exactly the look i was going for in that last panel. kind of a, “really, universe?”
That look on the first panel is awesome. I still think bot has snapped… But I am literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see whats gonna happen next!!
Also, that drawing= Awesome.
thanks, steve! glad you’re excited about what’s going to happen next! and i drew that first panel in more of a “comic book” style than i normally do, giving bot more of a neck and shoulders so you could see how the jacket is covering the Scarf. glad you liked it!
Ah, a classic! And an excellent proving ground for any hero-to-be, from a firefighter to a medic to a superhero. C’mon, ‘Bot, wipe that look off your face…learn to walk before you run! (Or so my violin teacher keeps telling me….)
let’s hope bot lives up to the challenge, Tiana! and you’re right: he shouldn’t poo-poo this deed – it could be a stepping stone to greatness! (or at least to the next kitten-in-a-tree rescue.) 🙂
Any chance we can get ‘Bot with a Tom Baker scarf?
y’know, it seems there are a ton of Doctor Who fans here, 11TN, so i might just make some fanart w/ bot in the Baker scarf. or maybe some other artists here are up to the challenge…?
Well, if you do, it has to be like miles long.
There’s an entire Dr. Who episode where he uses his scarf to help him not get lost in the infinite space of the TARDIS’ innards. They walk for hours and hours, and his scarf is just as infinitely long as his TARDIS is big.
now i must track down that episode and watch it, McClaud! did the Doctor’s scarf ever gain sentience or turn evil?
Awww!
