I really try to understand terms like “throw away,” “toss out” and “get rid of” when I’m moving, but they just don’t seem to register. Actually, those terms never seem to register when talking about (non-garbage) items I have around the apartment. Really hoping I don’t sound like a hoarder right now.

So sorry for the late Tuesday strip! Really tried to get it posted yesterday but was utterly exhausted from the Emerald City Comic Convention, traveling and then working the next day. Trying to get some rest before I start on Friday’s strip!
My “Throw away” pile is usually just old magazines, which have to be read first (just in case I missed out on an awesome article).
i know exactly how that goes, Nuurgle – i have so many magazines with potentially awesome articles, i could practically fill a room with them. (and sadly, i do!) but check you out: you just achieved the Shades of Firsting! wear them well, as these spectacles will help you see what you need to keep or toss. but mostly keep:
😎
I have no throw away pile. Simple as that.
I think somewhere I’ve got a few disney magazines from when I was a toddler, and a literal Ton of Simpsons magazines from later on…
Man, I really need to go throgh the attic some day.
Curses! Nearly made, maybe next time.
I don’t think Jefbot learned his hoarding lesson from last time.
whoops, sorry about repeat coment. Computer malfuntion.
no prob. deleted the duplicate comment.
so close, 52pickup! just five minutes separated you from the Shades! much luck another time.
and it’s a fairly safe bet that jefbot will never learn his hoarding lesson. heheh.
I never want to let go of my things! But being the youngest one, the just dump after I force myself to say yes. It tugs at my heart so much, worse than a woman watching soap operas.
i feel your pain, ShadowShuffler! i hate throwing my stuff away, which is why i donated a bunch of it last time i moved. at least there’s hope that some of my things will find good homes. 🙁
Oooh poor Jefbot! It’s hard for me to get rid of stuff too, I use to hoard EVERYTHING!
But believe me, getting rid of some old stuff to make room for new stuff is an awesome feeling. Trust me.
i’ll trust you, JoLee. but if i get rid of some old stuff and don’t get an “awesome feeling,” i’m going to track you down with my nerd rage burning. 😉
Oh dear!
Lalalala, I can’t hear you! If I can’t hear you, you can’t find me! *epic logic*
BTW, this comic’s particular title made me laugh so hard XD
I also have so much nerd clutter! But no one can convince me a four foot millennium falcon is garbage!
four feet, Zac!? impressive. most impressive. may your nerd clutter forever stay away from the garbage dump.
*Huh?*
Gets me every time…
But yeah, you need to have clear priorities. It doesnt matter if somebody else doesnt understands them, as long as you do. Im not sure Bot has them defined beyond *I like, I keep. I used to like, I keep.*
JB, if it makes you feel better, all you sound like is a geek. I had the exact same issue moving out of my parents house a while back. I still feel I tossed out to many things, even though I hardly have (and had) space for them anyway.
I covet the shades of firsting. It’s an all consuming craving. Some day, they will be mine! >.O
I totally can relate to this. I had to get rid of some stuff at the salvation army. It was one of those moments where I dropped it off and ran before I could realize what I was doing.
Good Morning BOTiverse!
…..Exhaulted one, we’ve talked about you looking in the PixieDOME windows! LOL This is much more a Mr. Pixie problem. Ok ok Mine too. But he is so much worse than I am! Whenever we move, he packs his stuff the day of the move! Makes me crazy!!!
I have trouble throwing things away because I always think I can re-purpose them into something else. Thank you Pintrest for that. A lot of the things I have saved over the years have new ideas rolling around in my head. Like old jeans as aprons.
In my recent move, I discovered I had a bunch of stuff that was still in the boxes from *two moves ago*. I finally asked myself, “If I haven’t taken this stuff out of the boxes, or even looked at it in the last 8 to 16 years, what are the odds I’m going to need it in the *next* few years?” And then I pitched it all.
hella pack rat
This is pretty much what happens when my roommate does any cleaning. EVER
OOH! To Keep or Not To Keep, that is the question! Sorry, couldn’t resist. Anyhoo, I have problems throwing things away, though in my case, it’s mostly a lack of caring, more than anything else. I DO keep some things though. Mostly my musical instruments (and music), shot glass collection (130+ and growing), D&D manuals (and assorted dice sets), and comic books. OOH! Also forgot Game Guides (WoW, old Nintendo Power issues, etc.) I really need to sort things out. BTW, Pauley Perrette mentioned ideas for future guest spots on NCIS on Twitter, naturally I mentioned you (got your last name misspelled though).
I do believe this Jefbot could be based on ESQ.
I still don’t get it. Let me bring out my Barbies and you can show me with the dolls…while I sit back and re-read papers I wrote when I was in 8th grade…
Oh oh oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jeff!!
Jeff, you have no idea how much I connect with this scenario. Well, probably you do, but really, it exceeds whatever you think. Plus, you’re more of a collector, while I might just be an accumulator.
On another note, I may not be the first commenter, but since it is now April 6, let me be the first to say “Happy Birthday!”
I have to admit, I’m with the Cornfather on this one . . . unless it’s my own stuff . . . 🙂
Yah…that’s totally me. I’m decent about culling through my books and clothes once in a while, to get rid of stuff that doesn’t fit/read and didn’t like/not the look I’m going for these days. But almost everything else? As long as it’s not broken, I find somewhere for it to live.
Is that a broken Macross figure? can I have it? I think I have a spare hand here somewhere
The look on your face in the last frame is PERFECT!
Some people just don’t understand. I wish I could part with things more easily.
