Good question. Let’s hope jefbot has a good answer.

REMINDER: The drawing for the San Diego Comic-Con BOTtons will be held this Wednesday (August 7), so if you want a chance at getting one, click over to this post for the rules. Winners have been randomly picked and will be revealed on Thursday! The contest is now closed. Thanks for playing! [Announcement here.]
Mercy remains worth a hope.
true that, Peg Fisher – although he sometimes struggles with it, bot tries to see the good in all things!
and check you out – you got the first comment so you achieved the Shades of Firsting! wear them well: these will help you see hope, even where none is apparent:
😎
Shades of firsting are fun, thanks! B) And I am certainly up for seeing hope. I’m quite fond of hope as a surprise result, and am frequently on the lookout for it.
de nada! congrats!
and yeah, hope is pretty awesome. certainly beats despair. 🙂
I love this comic! Just three panels are enough to depict so much emotion. One glance at the second panel is enough to be able to tell the guilt ‘bot is feeling. Poor guy.
hey, big thanks, Blunz! glad the emotions are coming through even with the smaller strips – bot’s feeling pretty guilty about Mu getting shorted-out right about now.
It’s not about them, its about us. Do you really want the ability to show mercy to your enemies to NOT be a art of what separates us from them?
On a less philosophical and more practical note: If it’s not sentient, KILL IT WITH FIRE.
exactly, Maryz – and on that same note, that question says more about the cave rabbit than it does about bot.
Yeah bot. I have to side with the giant killer bunny. What makes you think those guys deserve mercy? Lolz.
heheh. we’ll see if bot sticks to his “mercy” philosophy as things get more dire, Jf#300!
This sounds like more of a test question than scorn. But maybe I’m projecting . . .
it could very well be, Sarah W – methinks the cave rabbit is testing bot on many levels since he found him on his doorstep.
Let’s hope one of those levels isn’t taste.
ooh… true that, Descolada.
I like the reflections and lighting in the last panel
thanks, theBean! that stuff’s fun but time-consuming to draw.
I’m sorry…but I just CANNOT get over The Mother Mu’s Deadshot/steampunk examination loupe thing. I’m assuming he stole it along with his examination light and….background battery packs/BLUs on his escape from the alien ship.
very possible, JOE! it definitely appears he’s stolen some alien tech and repurposed it for his own needs. also appears he’s into the whole steampunk thing. 😉
Awww. Mu looks so cute lying there under the Cave Bunny’s light. I sure hope he can fix the poor little guy!
Methinks the answer to this question could be important in determining the future relationship between Jefbot and the Bunny. And I think honesty will get Jefbot to the right place with this big guy. At least I hope so!
yes, let’s hope he can fix Mu, otherwise the rest of this story might have to be bot and the cave bunny vs. the Growlers and “aliens,” shanna!
and, yeah – bot better think before answering. as Sarah W mentioned above – this could be a test. :-/
That monocle thing keeps making me think of steampunk bunnies in victorian suits. Of course now that I have thought of it, its a thing right? isn’t that how the internet works?
I’m oddly surprised that a quick Google image search for “steampunk bunnies” got as many relevant results as it did…
https://www.google.com/search?safe=off&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=835&q=%22steampunk+bunnies%22&oq=%22steampunk+bunnies%22&gs_l=img.3…1844.5297.0.5553.19.16.0.3.0.0.134.1390.14j2.16.0….0…1ac.1.24.img..5.14.1229.9wmGdMViwuk
Aaand the link’s jacked up. Stupid computers…
you’re right, JOE! who knew “steampunk bunnies” were an actual thing. ah, the beauty of the internet.
it is now a thing, Descolada! if jefbot were on friendlier terms with the cave bunny, he might suggest a mustache, monocle and victorian suit. as it is, i don’t think the bunny would go for it. heheh.
If I had to guess what Bot’s reason will be, I’d have to guess that it’s that they weren’t always like this and the alines forced them to be like this.
true that, Fijiman. and some of them were people’s pets!
The creatures are lucky i am not calling the shots, i have no problem slaying everyone in my path. Until i remember to take my meds that is.
Somehow i can not shake the feeling that this seemingly innocent question holds a hidden test. Answer well BOT, your life may hang in the balance.
if it’s a test, let’s hope bot passes it, Graypatch – i wouldn’t want to fail an ethical question put forth by the cave bunny!
Oh, questioning Jefbot’s morals? This will be both bad and good. That’s how things go when ones morals are questioned.
especially when one’s morals don’t line up with another’s, GB. let’s hope bot’s and the cave bunny’s are in alignment.
C’mon mister Cave Bunny, even mindless Growlers deserve some mercy right?
Right?
right, 52pickup! let’s hope mr. cave bunny concurs. 🙂
i like the solution for the bunny’s glasses with the loop around the ear. beats the normal lenses on face. the amount of work you are putting into these panels really shows.
awww, thanks for that, Hairball! and glad you like the loop for the goggles – the cave bunny crafted those himself!
Hey…I just noticed the font changed from The Mother Mu’s previous strips and this one. Is this his cranky font? Business font? Something else?
yeah, i just changed the cave bunny’s speaking font, JOE. i never liked that other one and it kept bugging me to the point where i just made a decision and changed it! dang OCD. heheh. i think this one’s much more rough, expressive and truer to what i was originally going for.
we all need mercy!!!!! great comic!!! did you get my emails?? from Big Nate
sorry, i haven’t had a chance to go through my inbox this past week, nate, but i should get to them tomorrow! i’ll keep an eye out for yours. 🙂
