Sorry I missed last Friday’s update, folks! I’ve been swamped with a few projects I’ve been working on for the past couple of weeks, so between that stuff and Thanksgiving, something had to give. But we’re back! And it looks like our crew’s getting ready to start the last leg of their journey, but why is Grimwald so interested in bot’s dream? Chances are we’ll find out in a future comic…
Something is very fishy about that dream!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
i did, f_f, thanks! hope yours was nice and tasty, too. and yup, something tells me we haven’t learned all there is to know from bot’s dream, quite yet!
and check you out – it’s been a couple of comics since your last Shades but you’ve achieved them once again! wear them well – these help track down lost promises:
😎
I may never reach my record again :'(
I eagerly await the solving of this misterious dream and Altbot
i have a feeling your record is going to stand a loooong time, f_f. 🙂
Hard to forget a freaky dream like that one…
let’s just hope bot can remember it all, Insectoid!
Wow still loving this story line. The art is beautiful. Glad to see you back.
aww, thanks, Kris! happy you’re still diggin’ this little adventure! and, yes – it’s good to be back. now i gotta get back to those projects, though. 😛
ADORABLE MUSASHI
also
*dreamt
(i think)
agreed: Mu is pretty adorable, in any situation. 🙂
and, as far as “dreamt” goes – i believe that’s more common in british english, while “dreamed” is more common in american usage.
Tell me about that dream? How long has Bot been asleep?
maybe he’s still asleep, TCG! O_O
My point exactly.
Whoa . . . You mean Grimwald didn’t *know*?
Does Sir Cottonbottom have a different agenda? Is that even possible?
It’s not nice to explode my brain before First Coffee, Jeff. It hurts.
heheh. agreed: brain exploding is always better after coffee, Sarah W. and, hmmm… maybe there’s more to Sir Cottonbottom than we know? or maybe that was just some really craaaaazy tea.
So the dream was a dream, before reality, that is a dream. Jefbot, don’t worry, its just rather confusing
yes, parsing what was reality and what was a dream is rather confusing, HITD. i feel like i deal with that every day IRL.
Yes mister bunny. Because if I said no to you, you would snap me in half.
true that, DJ – i don’t think bot really has a choice in making that promise. 🙂
Oh, Grimwald I don’t like to be a spoilsport but the way you worded that request you seem to assume Jefbot will survive…
heheh. yes, Grimwald does seem to be rather optimistic here, Maryz. maybe he should get the details of that dream now!
Gee, do you really think Grimwald would want to freak Jefbot out by saying something like “You only have an hour to live.”?
knowing Grimwald, he might think that’s funny, Rainey. 😉
what giant bunny wants, giant bunny gets
you’re right, theBean. i’m pretty sure that’s a truism.
I have to wonder what Grimwald is hoping to find out from Bot’s dream and if Bot will tell him about the platypus universe?
Also, should we expect the bat within the next few updates?
someday we’ll find out what Grimwald wants with that info, Fijiman…
and re: TCB – YES! i’m planning on a couple more “regular” comics, then a small break for his return!
Yay!
I LOVE Mu’s expression in panel 2! It comes off as “I care nothing for talk of parallel universes and/or platypi, I just desperately need something to hit.”
Hrmm…I’ve got a new theory forming about Grimwald and Sir Cottonbottom’s relationship…possibly involving the old sci-fi trope of fracturing one person into separate and distinct aspects of his personality.
Or Jefbot was tripping. Both are equally likely at this point.
ha! yes, i’m glad you picked up on that, JOE – Mu’s not really interested in this conversation, he just wants to get back to the task at hand.
as for your theories: both are valid. no doubt we’ll find out the truth of it all in a future story.
Back for some more tea perhaps.
ha! let’s hope bot stays away from the tea next time, p.j.
(Oh god, I haven’t posted in over a year, so sorry!)
I’m so excited to see where this is going, hoping Bot gets what he’s hoping for with this big adventure, glad so many things from the comics history are starting to come together!
no prob, Angelsquid – i’m just happy you’re back! 😀
and, yep – lots of threads will be resolved with this storyline, but a few more will be woven!
Bahahah! Mus face in the second panel is so funny!
Next time jefbot should probs bring his own tea, wouldnt you agree?
He doesn’t looked pleased about this development hahaha
you’re right, f_f!
yeah, i think Mu feels a bit undignified being lifted off Grimwald like that, DAS. heheh. and, yes – let’s hope he remembers to bring his own beverage next time!
Ooh, things just got really interesting! I can’t wait to see ‘bot revisit Grimwald and see what his dream was really about.
glad you’re intrigued, Blunz! while i’m sure bot won’t be getting back anytime soon, someday he’ll get there and (hopefully) get some answers.
Darn it, doesn’t Grimwald know that saying things like that is just asking to be killed off or seriously injured? I thought he knew better then that!
He is a wise shaman-bunny, but sadly genre-blind
Next he’ll be saying “what’s the worst that could happen?” or “at least things can’t get any worse” (and if he’s as genre-blind as you say, he probably won’t catch himself like ‘bot did).
if Grimmy said those things, i imagine bot would just cover his own ears “lalalalaNOTLISTENINGLALALALA!”
looks like Grim needs a Netflix subscription or perhaps a blu-ray player, adinfinitumspero. 🙂
Well this isn’t a “scary” story so maybe those rules don’t apply here. I loved how they lampshaded that trope in the first “Scream” movie.
true that, GardeBlaze – the only thing worse could’ve been if he was retiring, or going on “one last mission.” heheh. let’s hope everyone survives after Grim’s little comment.
Oh wow, I never expected so many replies! I like them all too!
I hope you had a good turkey day with lots of good food and no family drama!
I love how Mu looks like a little kid in these panels instead of like a kick-ass cyborg thingy. And look! His belly spot is sticking out! 😀 I want to *boop* it.
I just read your reply to my comment on the last strip. Let’s hope this is NOTHING like the Hunger Games. O.O I haven’t seen Catching Fire yet, but I plan to at some point. I heard it was awesome. Have you seen it and do you agree with that assessment of it?
i did see Catching Fire and do agree with the “awesome” assessment of it. definitely had higher production values and a less cheesy look than the first one. much more serious tone, too. i felt the same way about the new Thor, too, which i liked WAY more than the original.
i DID have a good thanksgiving, Shanna! thanks! actually just finished the last of the leftovers a couple days ago. hope yours was delicious and drama-free, as well!
and, yes – i love drawing Mu’s little belly spot. heheh. boop!
If this was Wayne’s World, Jefbot would say “This was all just a dream.”
*dramatic pause while he finds a physical artifact* “Or was it?”
Anyway, odd that this story line and the comments have to do with dreams and reality because the last short story I wrote is titled “Reality on Oak Street” and it’s about characters living in Dreamland who are killed off one by one when they wake up and enter the real world. The killer is a man identified by having blades on his boots.
Freddie’s got competition.
indeed.
sounds like a cool story, Rainey! i like the twist you did with the Elm Street stuff. are you writing for yourself or are you publishing your stories somewhere?
I’m writing these stories for myself and my friends AND I’m trying to get them published in magazines and anthology books. I specialize in sci-fi, alternate history, alternate legend and new twists on old ideas. From time to time, these stories will find their way onto my tumblr site. I’m still working on and learning how to use tumblr.
Also, good to see that people picked up on my story being a reversal of “Nightmare on Elm Street”. I considered saying that explicitly but decided to see if people could figure it out by the description.
nice! good luck with the publishing! and so many options now for self-publishers, especially in the ebook market.
