So my television (actually, the one my dad let me borrow for the next 6-12 months) has been in the shop for at least three weeks now. While the repair guys know what the problem is – the screen needs to be replaced – they haven’t found a donor TV with the right parts yet. During the first week without the TV, I felt despondent like jefbot in today’s strip, in the second week I began to get over it and actually made headway on some delayed projects, but now in this third week, I’m starting to feel the withdrawal pains pretty hard, especially with all the season finales going on (LOST, 24) and cool games out (Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2), not to mention the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, where I’ll actually have some free time. Ah, well. Maybe without the TV sucking away so many hours I’ll finally be able to make some progress on Pokémon SoulSilver and that new JEFbot merch I’ve been promising.
For the readers that observe Memorial Day, I hope you’re able to spend this holiday weekend with friends and family. My appreciation goes out to all the men and women who have died in military service to this country. Here’s a link for ways to observe the day: click here.
am i first?? omg! Hi
😎
yup! you get the glasses this time, ESQ.
squeeeeeeeee, I got the glasses!!! *happy dance*
Oh it’s the little things that make my day! 😀 Hope you and your family (and all of you other peeps on here too) have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
woo! happy dance!
trying to enjoy every last minute of what’s left of this long weekend, ESQ! hope you and yours are having a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, too.
now that I got that out of the way, I think that’s the first “first” I’ve ever been LOL! Even the night you and I were tweeting back n forth until you put the comic up hahahaha
Oh tv withdrawals…man when we were moving we were without tv and the internet for a week. We’re not huge tv watchers…but boy did I miss my Family Guy repeats before bed! And the internet…my friend…it was like removing my left arm…I could still function, but barely LOL!! I feel for ya!! Hang in there!!
i can’t believe this is your first “first,” ESQ! yay!
and i totally know what you’re saying about the internet – losing that would definitely hurt a LOT more than being without the tv. i spend WAY more time in cyberspace (especially maintaining JEFbot now) than i do sitting in front of the idiot box.
I don’t have a connected TV, just a gaming one. My flaptop, however, contains my life and I’m totally lost without the internet. Because of my illness, I can’t get outside very often so I do most things online. It’s a real godsend. Without it, I truly wouldn’t be able to function in life.
Happy Memorial Day, bot!! And what a strip to commemorate memories. Memories of our TELEVISION!!! I can’t believe we don’t have it anymore and the other one’s in the shop. :’-( You keep playing imaginary video games and I just stare at an empty wall trying to remember old episodes of “Bosom Buddies.” I think it’s making me drink more. Anyway, this strip is stellar. Fun to read, fun to look at, Short, sweet, and to the point. The point being of course: WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GETTING A TV? 😉
you can borrow or have our 27″ tube TV!
thanks, Xin, but i’m kind of enjoying not having the tv around, at least at this moment in time. an hour from now i may be driving to your house to take you up on your offer.
Speak for yourself, bot. Xinda, bring it ova!!!!
memmm-oo-rieees…
not sure when we’ll be getting the tv back, MC. at this point i wouldn’t be surprised if that repair shop was a front for an electronics-stealing ring. or a figment of my imagination.
Poor BOT!!!!!! Whatcha gonna do, bot?!?! That was my life for three years. I feel for you.
how’d you get through it, Anonymous!? please don’t tell me illegal substances were involved.
If my computer died.. I probably be doing the same thing.. only typing on my keyboard
::clicky clack clack click::
Wow, I’ve done that… Computer and Television withdrawls are weird
yup.
Glad I’m not alone. :]
when the graphics card on my macbook pro went out a couple months ago, i totally sat at my desk, dragging the mouse back and forth, Joenis, left-and-right clicking randomly while i waited for the call from the Apple Store.
No game is as good as the one you imagine.
i don’t know about that, Maryz – Mass Effect 2 was pretty good and i’m dying to know how it ends. 😉
Whoever says that we can live without technology clearly doesn’t know how horrible it is without it.
You know, sort of.
you’re absolutely right, Jaeh. i hope we never have to find out just how much we depend on technology. ‘cuz, you know, i’d really miss my laptop, not to mention clean water. 🙂
There are still TV repair shops??
Considering that even a semi-decent Plasma screen or LCD widescreen can set one back $700+, there damn well *better* be!
one of the quotes i got to repair the tv was $600, r61!
funny, i had to really search around on the internet to find a place that would repair it, Kev. either their quotes were too high or they wouldn’t take Sony tv’s at all.
i would be glad to go out and shoot a tv that’s living in the wild so you’ll have a donor.
thats my territory, “hostile and cruel tv repairs”, ” If it wasn’t shot beaten or traped, we didn’t sell it to you, and you SUCK!” lulz 😈
if you see a perfect LCD screen for a 40″ Bravia in the wild, let me know before you shoot, beat or trap it, Animie fan. 🙂
thanks, t_d! i have this mental image of an LCD tv waking up in a tub of ice with its screen missing. 🙂
Rofl. That amuses me quite a bit. I unlike my brother can live with out electronics (needing only my phone to keep sane) My family and I lost power for a week starting the day of my high school open house. My brother all but moved into my Aunt’s house down the road for the week. It was funny.
yep. that’d be me, DJ, living with your aunt. hope she had wifi. 😉
I don’t know if she has wifi actually. I’ve never tried. I should see if she does and if its DS compatible. My wifi isn’t compatible and it sucks.
Oh this is too funny! I would be doing the same thing. We have 5 TV’s in the house anduse them all. Not at the same time of course but yes there is a tv in the bedroom, living room, den, sewing room and guest room. Ya know…JUST incase.
SHEESH I can’t even imagine not having the TV at all. You should see us freak out when the power is down. People drift out into the streets in our neighborhood like cave people discovering fire.
That’s the ONE luxury I couldn’t live without in this economy. TV is our entertainment right now. Cable is a MUST.
five televisions!? i’d say you’re well prepared, Pixie! if i had five of ’em i wouldn’t be in the predicament i’m in now. can you spare one? 😛
i haven’t seen that scene in a long time (nor do i want to again!) but i remember people drifting about like “cave people” the last time we had a huge power outage years ago. it was horrible. *shudder*
Memorial Day is MY HOLLY-DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of those days in that weekend is usually my birthday!
*evil laugh of doom*
Bwuahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!
All hail to the “blessing” that was my “creation”!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Ahem… back to the real reason for this post.
Awwwww, poor Jeff. Withdrawals can be awful. I have experienced quite a few internet withdrawals through my existence. Not fun, I’m telling you.
I’m starting to think that you’ll have to make the TV donor available *insane cackle* You know, just follow the poor will-make-nice-donor TV around with a gun loaded with hollow bullets…
8D
Ahem. Ok. No idea what my brother put in my coffee this morning. I’m gonna chill out and wait for it to pass.
…
Or do something that under usual circunstances I wouldn’t even consider doing.
*evil laugh of doom*
Happy Birthday! I hope it’s a good one!
Have a great birthday! And Memorial Day!
Thanks for the good wishes!
Thank you!!
i hail your creation, Sonitan! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! i’m having an evil laugh of doom over here in L.A. in your honor! bwuahahahahahhahaha! hope you had an awesome day. 😀
problem is, i might damage the tv if i go hunting for donors with bullets. you think chloroform work on LCDs?
That’s how it was at my house when the power supply for my laptop gave up the ghost. And it was 2 weeks after the warranty was up no less!!! BLARG! I hate having busted electronics.
i had the same thing happen to an old laptop of mine – a short on the motherboard that would’ve been too expensive to fix, that happened within a month of the warranty expiring. kind of amazing how the tech companies time those things, actually, TCG.
lol, a donor TV XD
heh. glad you liked that, Mister_E. and nice to know many of you read the blog post accompanying the strip. 🙂
Well, that means you should be able to give us an extra webcomic update each week! Right?! LOL!
ha! i wish, Stan! i might be able to get out more frequent updates to the JEFblog and BOTshop, tho! at least until i get the tv back. 🙂
Oh no! I’m not sure I could make it over a three day weekend without a TV!!! Good luck! I love the vacant stare (with a glimmer of doom) that’s in your expression in each frame!!! TV or no TV your webcomic is always brilliant!
thanks, Funnyshaffer! watch a little extra tv for me over the Memorial Day weekend. 😉
I think I might react that way to a lack of Internet. The times I have definitely felt like that is when I have gone without knitting/crocheting for a couple of months (like this last semester which was total hell). I had to periodically go to a yarn store and pet the yarn and see the pretty colors. I think that’s the yarny equivalent of playing with your TV remote and game thingy.
heheh. petting the yarn is definitely the “yarny equivalent,” Shanna. or maybe just clacking your needles together into empty space would suffice. are you done with this hellish semester and back to a good place, knitting awesome things?
It sadden me that I was not able to check out your last few comics until now, but they were certainly a welcomed distraction after tackling so much coursework. :/ LOL By the way I am sorry about your television…However, look at the bright side: because of all the practice you are getting with remote and game controller, you will be SO prepared to turn on the TV with precision at lightning speed from 5 feet away and reach the 52nd level on your Wii! ::insert beeping/whooshing sound:: Okay, I am not fluent in video game, but I think you get the picture. Haha Have a great weekend, and oh, I know I’m late with this, but congratulations on your video project “You Were A Cat…”; it was ridiculously funny and made my day! 😀 Take care!
welcome back, Ebony! i’m glad my strip was able to provide you with some distraction from your coursework! are you done for the semester or do you still have more studying to do?
i’ll definitely be prepared for the tv upon its return. keeping these fingers good and limber for when that happens. 😉
and big thanks for the nice words about “You Were a Cat”! i had a great time shooting it so i’m happy you enjoyed it!
Sorry for not responding sooner; I did not realize you replied! :/ LOL I am sadly still in class, but that is because my courses are administered in back-to-back “quarters” (~7 weeks long), as opposed to a “semester;” I opted for the advanced track to get my Masters in less time. ::le sigh:: LOL Thank you for asking though and please keep making your comics. Are thinking about publishing them soon? Thanks to the handy guide in your last strip, I think I will be able to read it like a pro. 😉 Haha. Great storylines this week and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
Well ykno what? This isn’t as bad as what I did as a kid. I was playing a ps1 game (syphon filter to be exact,) and I remember getting so frustrated I took the game out and chucked it at the wall. About ten seconds later, popped it back into the ps1 to see if it would work. Yeah….
loved Syphon Filter, Steve, so i’m sorry to hear it got chucked at the wall. heheh. glad you had the presence of mind to take the game out and chuck just it instead of the whole system. that would’ve sucked even more. 🙂
When you are pulling your hair like a madman and about to jump from the roof of your house…give me a call JB.
if my DS and PSP malfunction i just might get to that point, nicobot.
I had computer withdrawl everytime we moved. It sucked…
yeah, that would suck big time, Rinthia. hope you have a laptop now. 🙂
Hilarious! See you Sunday!
sunday was fun! …except for when you ripped off ted’s shirt right when the guests started coming in.
actually, that was fun, too. 😀
*blinks* ….Why do -I- never get invited to parties like that?! *chuckles*
Something like this happened to me once. I didn’t break my tv, however, it just hadn’t been delivered to me, and took several weeks more to arrive… Stupid Army travel assistance.
i hope it eventually got to you in one piece, Eptha! (i hope mine does, too.) :-/
“CHICKEN!”
*ahem*
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
That must be a Jefbot imposter. There’s no way Jefbot could go a week without TV and games.
almost four weeks, now, sis! playing Rock Band yesterday at the bday party helped stave off some of the shakes, tho. 🙂
It scares me a little how dependant on the internet and television people are… although i have no friends and spend most of my time reading books… so… yeah.
Jeffbot should go camping.
i went camping last summer, Char, and got lost in the redwood forest with my sister for several hours as the sun was going down. so, that part wasn’t fun, but i did enjoy the rest of my trip!
I’ve felt a disconnection from the world when I’ve had computer issues in the past, so I can totally relate with this strip. Hope you had an amazing Memorial Day weekend (as well as all the JefBOT readers out there.) Sorry it took so long to get around to the strip, I had a busy weekend. 😛
should i laugh or should i feel sad for jb?
reminds me of that episode of south park.
“how good is he?”
“how good am i? i can play (rock band) ACOUSTIC”
