I never went through with it, but during my last couple of moves I did consider making tunnels through the mountain of boxes in my living room to get from there to, say, the kitchen or bedroom. Visions of the boxes collapsing and my family and/or friends finding my lifeless body under the avalanche of boxes days or weeks later dissuaded me from pursuing this idea further.
Rip, rip, rip the chipmunks off the field
let’s hope that any such “ripping” doesn’t happen to bot, Ryurei!
and, hey: first comment so you get the Shades of Firsting! congrats! wear them well – they’ll help you see clearly in subterranean tunnels of your own making or otherwise.
😎
oh gog, my first shades of firsting. What will I do with my new-found power? I know, I will use it to construct said subterranean tunnels. They will be stocked with sunflower seeds every five decameters. Salted, of course.
Also, it would seem that Google chrome does not recognize deca- as a legitimate prefix meaning *10. Tsk tsk Google, tsk tsk.
woo! congrats on your first Firsting, Ryurei! and it makes me happy to see you’re being so practical with your subterranean tunnels – never know when you’re going to get peckish while you’re crawling about.
How To Succeed reference WHAT
😀
I have been experiencing this want to make tunnel through boxes lately. Though, my madness is due to a spring cleaning… well, cleaning isn’t the word. More like a spring evacuation!
i just did a little spring cleaning of my own last week, Paulie, when what i really needed was a spring evacuation! if you need any boxes, i have some spares. 🙂
It may not be a box fort, but it’s pretty darn close. This strip reminds me of my childhood when it would snow and I hoped for enough snow to make a series of tunnels and dens under the surface.
did you ever have enough snow to create your tunnels and dens, 52pickup? that sounds like it’d be awesome.
Not quite, I did occasionaly get enough snow to make a small snow fort which was pretty fun.
sweet!
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! You made my afternoon.
If I’m guessing right, you did this too… TELL ME WHERE YOU LIVE SO I CAN JOIN YOU!
glad you got a laugh out of the comic, ShadowShuffler! and i did make something similar to this once, but it was more like a maze rather than a series of tunnels. next move, if i can make the human habitrail happen, i’ll send you an invite. make sure to bring sunflower seeds. 😉
Hooray!
LOL, that is so silly! Hopefully the tunnel system isn’t so complex you need a map… 😛
could be, Insectoid! perhaps bot has it all mapped out on his iPad?
I have always wanted to do this. Always.
A couple years ago, my kid got herself stuck in an inflated bouncy habitrail at one of those party places, so I went in after her. Once she was extracted, I had to go though it with her again so she wouldn’t be traumatized by the experience. Twice.
And once more, by myself, to find her sock. That was in my pocket. 🙂
I faintly remember as a child of being in one when some lady in high heel decided it would be a good idea to keep them on when going through a large pile of plastic only keeping its shape with air. Apparently they had to cut me and 4 other children out who happened to have not noticed till it was to late to make it to the end. So far no trauma…maybe. 😛
Not me, I swear–I don’t wear heels unless forced. And even if i lived in them, I’d have the sense not to wear ’em in bouncy houses . . .
i have an irrational fear of being trapped/squeezed in an enclosed space, Zolen. perhaps i have an “air-filled plastic structure” collapse experience from my past that i’ve blocked out? or maybe it’s the fact that i live in earthquake-prone southern california. maybe the fear’s not so irrational afterall.
ha! very sneaky finding ways to play in that inflated labyrinth while still keeping your “adult” persona intact, Sarah. i approve.
this strip is sooooooooooooooooooout of this world
heheh. it’s not so “out there” if you have a chance to peer into my mind, jf#300. i’ve been so close to doing this very thing on many an occasion!
… Bot’s officially lost it. -yells into background- Someone, anyone, we need a dose of Cel, and we need it yesterday!
And while you’re at, somebody find Musashi!
it’s possible both your wishes will be granted very soon, Anime fan and 52pickup! 😀
Oh Cornfather, so narrow-minded. I’m sure it wouldn’t take too much additional work to forge some box-towers and turn ‘bot’s Human Habitrail into a sweet Box Castle.
…and what IS that thing on the box under Jefbot?! A District 9 alien? The dog from Adventure Time?
true that, Joe – if the Cornfather allowed himself to get into it a bit, he might find some fun to be had in that maze of boxes!
as for the “thing” – it’s nothing specific. just a weird raccoon/walrus beastie.
What is it about cardboard boxes that make them so much fun to play in? I remember making makeshift little forts with my brothers when we were younger and having a blast.
Also, sorry I’ve been quiet for so long.
glad to see you here again, Fijiman!
and there is just something inherent about boxes that make them awesome. when i was a kid, i’ve heard i was much more interested in the wrapping and boxes of a gift, rather than the gift itself.
For a kid (or at least a boy) to not have made a fort out of boxes and played in it at least once is kind of sad.
Good Morning BOTIVERSE and all you BOTifiles! (HA! How that for a slice of fried gold!)
OK so apparently I missed this one posting sometime yesterday. *sigh* Losing my touch….may have to pass on the Cookies of DOOM recipe…..LIKE H-E-Double Hockey Sticks!!! You can have it when you pry it from my cold dead lifeless if I don’t come back as a bad a$$ Thriller-esque Zombie fingers!!!!
*blinks* Where am I again? OH!!!! Ok so If you use the empty boxes then you should be ok as long as you don’t try to make like hills and stuff. Will any of us grow out of that playing with boxes phase? I still see boxes and think “That is a fort! no no it’s a race car! No Wait, it’s a multilevel spaceship and I am the captain and all my friends are there and and and..Oh look something shiny!”
Those of you who are on the Facespace or the MyBook, find the Bot Fan page and likelikelikelike! We also have a Group. Join in the fun! ESQ, Kypress and I have a lil something brewing in the works and I may make a post or three about it.
I agree! Come to the dark side! 😀
morning, Pixie!
nope, i don’t think we’ll ever grow out of the “playing with boxes” phase. it’s part of what keeps us all “Toy R Us” kids, afterall. heheh. if this little ol’ webcomic grows to an extent where i have massive space on a convention floor, i’ll have to put aside some of that space for a box fort for BOTreaders! 😀
and i love what you and some other BOTladies are doing on the Fanpage – can’t wait to see what craftiness you all come up with!
I miss Musashi!!!! I hope he will make a reappearance soon.
Ha ha ha. I love the human habitrail idea. That would be so much fun (barring box-alanches, of course)! I love the stuffed cheeks too. 😀
Musashi’s reappearance is in the works, Shanna! can’t give an exact date, but i’m hoping for sooner rather than later. 🙂
Wheres Musashi?
And I would totally do that.
no doubt Musashi would love the “human habitrail,” dj, but his mate, Miyuki (on bot’s shoulder), will have to have fun for the both of them for now. but soon, Mu will make his return! (well, fingers crossed. heheh.)
A human sized Habitrail would be awsome to crawl through! Well, there are always the giant ones at Mc.Donalds and Burger King, but they never let anyone above the age of 13 in those things.
i’ve noticed fewer and fewer of those “Play Land” structures at McD’s and BK, GardeBlaze. seems like they’re phasing them out, which is a shame.
Indeed it is. :,(
BTW, I think its pretty cool how you take the time to respond to every comment on here.
Huh, strange, why did I become an anonymous? Last time I checked my user name wasn’t a default name.
Love it! It reminds me of the time I made a fort in my bedroom… …last year! You’re never too old to camp out in a box!
My toddler has become OBSESSED with blanket tents lately! It’s awesome! I get to hide under blankets with flashlights and books… Except the child being held hostage inside me makes it a bit difficult getting back up off the floor and impossible to lay on my belly (they kind of frown upon squishing the unborn children), but it’s fun while I’m down there!
making box/pillow/blanket forts never gets old, Funnyshaffer! next time i move, i should definitely have a “box party” when i’m done unloading all the contents. 🙂
Now if he could just convert the kitchen into a giant ball pit, he’d be all set!
that’d be pretty sweet, E. A. Setser! well, until bot needed to get some food or a soda, that is. 😉
As long as he can get to his phone and his wallet, he’s solid…. Hopefully, so are the contents of those boxes!
If did get crushed just hope that you find your old DS so you can message cel!
indeed, Zac – based on his dangerous history with box cave-ins, bot better keep something like that handy!
Oh too cute! I love the expression in the last panel…reminds me of my nephew when he tries to “cute” his way out of something. …And damn it, the cute usually works. >_<
The “CUTE” always works… when they aren’t yours… 😀
🙂
i’m happy you found bot cute in that last panel, T. since bot was going all “hamster” on us, i totally wanted the cuteness factor amped up a bit there. not sure that’s gonna work on the Cornfather, though. 🙂
Oh man don’t tell me he’s gonna turn into hamsterman or something. Seriously how long a nesting period are we talking about here?
i wonder what powers bot would get as “hamsterman,” Jiro!? and i wonder how they’d compare or enhance his Powers of Scrawn??? hmmm…
It might enhance his power of wriggling through narrow passages… but at the expense of his eyeballs bulging out when he gets stuck. That might hurt.
Hahaha! Your visions about being burried under your hoarded stuff reminds me of the Cornfathers role in that episode where his character died under his commic book collection.
funny you should mention that, Maryz – when the Cornfather booked that role (way back in the day!), he told me he based that character off how he felt when he visited my old apartment in sherman oaks, california! 😀
Will we see the inside of ‘bot’s…cavern of boxes?
that’s up in the air, GG. as of now, i’ll say “no” as sometimes, things are better left unseen. 😉
HEY Exhaulted One….We need you on the Group Page please.
AGREED!
visited and loving what’s going on there. 🙂
All you need now are a water bottle and big wheel. Maybe a hamster ball.
ooh, a “hamster ball” would be pretty cool, KB! i’d totally run down to the local coffee shop in that. 😉
These boxes are either constructed of something much stronger than regular cardboard or they’re still packed full of Jefbot’s items.( A cardboard box isn’t strong enough to support the weight of a human being. ) If my latter theory is correct, this indicates an issue much greater than Jefbot reliving his childhood: his procrastination. The time for fun should be when the work is all done.
Also, to explain my skull and parallelbones joke I brought up with my comments to your last strip: My shirt is a white shirt with a skull and two bones underneath, both laying horizontally and parallel to each other, airbrushed in green paint. It’s intended as a parody of the Jolly Rogers skull and crossbones and as a geometry joke. The Jolly Rogers flag and design features a skull and crossbones. Therefore, I decided to parody that with a skull and parallelbones. Parallelbones would be the opposite of crossbones because in geometry, parallel lines don’t cross. Hopefully, you now get this joke. I do fear though that this joke requires more thought to understand than I initially thought it would ( from an outsider’s point of view ).
Once you have to explain a joke it’s no longer funny
yep, most of those boxes are still filled with stuff, Rainey – which makes a collapse even doubly dangerous! and since the next strip takes place away from his new apartment, it could be said that bot’s procrastination powers are still in full effect. 🙂
as for the shirt: i like the concept! i feel like people would need a little more context to get it, though. like, you might need to actually have the words “skull and parallelbones” printed underneath.
I can’t read anything you post without picturing you wearing a monocle and being serious about it.
Monocles are serious
This is me even after I’m settled in, and the boxes are all unpacked… I’m such a bachelor.
heh. bachelorism definitely has its perks, Saeed!
My room was just cleaned. And by cleaned, i mean that my mom took EVERYTHING (except my clothes and the stuff i managed to hide in the pokemon basket. Yes, i have a clothes basket of pokemon stuffed toys. You do not touch the pokemon plushies. This will result in loss of limb. You have been warned.) And she packed it all into boxes and put it in the garage for me to go through at my leisure. And since she managed to get my DS games bag, if i don’t go through all of the cardboard boxes until i find it, i’ll never get to play Drawn to Life or Pokemon Ranger again. (Thank Goodness i managed to grab the gameboy bag.)
I’ll probably build a house out of the cardboard boxes though. Or a wall. I think i’ll go with a wall, across half my room, with a secret door. Good news about this though, i get to put a couch and whatever other furniture i can find in there. If i’m sneaky enough i might be able to hide a mini fridge up there. In my cardboard foretress! I will get a nerf gun and pelt all who enter!
I shoudln’t still be up…
yikes! make sure to rescue those DS games, Charlie! wouldn’t want those to never be seen again. and although most of my poképlushes are boxed away, i’d say make sure those find a safe place of haven, too, as you wouldn’t want those to be “accidentally” put into the trash.
and i approve of your nerf-protected wall! actually, anything with a secret door generally gets the thumbs up from me. 🙂
Yes! After weeks of reading I have finnaly caught up with the rest of the viewers. I saw a booth for this website at emerald city comicon and awkwardly grabbed a card promoting the website. It would have been stealthy and awesome if I hadn’t been wearing cosplay that mad me stand out.Now that Ive read it all I feel bad that I didn’t get a book to be autographed. Oh well.I Just decided to post some complements and encouragement, keep up the good work.

Welcome aboard!
Thank you for the information! I wish I could write a long thought out reply, but seeing as how I have a lack of anything to say… The least I can do is acknowlege that I read your message and am happy to be a part of this webcomic. ( I am the all important reader!) The fact that this comic is family friendly was something that drew me to it in the first place. I don’t really have anything else to say… I will just awkwardly end my thought.
i try and keep this comic rated “T” for teen, Some random kid. although the strip can get violent, romantic or dramatic, i try not to put anything in that you wouldn’t see on network television during primetime. glad you approve!
as always, thanks for welcoming the newcomers with such style, Pixie! 🙂
welcome, Some random kid! glad you’re all caught up now and decided to say hi. i’m also happy you grabbed a postcard at ECCC and decided to give my little ol’ webcomic here a try. so, i gotta ask – what were you cosplaying as? and no worries about the book. although i sold out of my supply at that convention, (yay!) a new printing is in the works, (double yay!) which i hope to have up on the website in the next month or two. and you can always wait ’til next year’s ECCC, which i’ve already signed up for!
and big thanks for the compliments and encouragement! they’re always appreciated. 😀
hahah at least he has fun wen he procrastinates
true that, MrSnow – bot has made an art out of procrastinating. 😉
Woulda been fun!
